Prostate biopsy and psa blood test

Alreet all. Dates now set for action. 22nd and 23rd for scans. 7th March for first day of 20 radiotherapy sessions.
Been placed on the trial arm which includes the pivotal boost, which basically gives a bit extra to the area of concern within the prostate.
Still feels like a dream tbf, like I am as per normal and feel relatively OK, but reality due to kick in a little from next week I think !!
Is your cancer concealed just to the prostate

Its in the hands of the specialists, i would have it out or raidiotherpy, not fussed, but they just coming back at me saying they happy at the moment, olso just been diagnosed with cirrhosis, so
A little bit more worry but just got to march on

Why not just get it removed?
Got a small 2mm brain aneurysm to boot. Not a big issue though as its been there for at least 5 year when it showed up the mri. See me mam died of one hemorrhaging when in her fifties and I've had checks every 5 year since.
The prostate removal process has you at an angle whilst you are operated on where the blood flows to your head. They thought it was too risky and recommended the current course of action.
I probably would have done the op tbf mind.

Ok, fair point mate. Good luck with everything.

I'm 73 and have a full blood test every three years. This one came back with a slightly raised PSA so off to the Urology Clinic. I was surprised to find the consultant was a woman, and as we got down to the dreaded snap of the glove she said "I'll just get a chaperone in." It was another woman!!!
So she has a rummage and then said "On your back, I need to examine your genitals." After a few minutes in the foetal position, my old fella looked like a pile of wrinkles! By the time she had gently caressed both testicles he had recovered a bit, when she said "I need to check the end of your pee-pipe," and she peels back the hoodie! I know blokes that would gladly pay ÂŁ100 for this session, but even as a freebee I was not thrilled.
She assured me my 5.4 reading was not a danger and my GP had only sent me because new recommendations had dropped the 'action' level from 5.4 to 5, and that for a chap in his 70s they would not take any action until the reading was at least 6.6. Mine has been going up by about 0.3 per year for a decade, and she explained that the PSA goes up in relation to the size of the prostate, and that mine was not particularly enlarged, so the current rate of change was nothing to worry about.
I will have my bloods done every two years now.
I may have over-shared here, and you have to have a sense of humour about tis grizzly stuff, but please Lads don't put off having your check regularly.

How did yesterday go pal?

Thanks for asking mate. Had first radiotherapy yesterday second one just come back from. So far it's a doddle! Takes 10 minutes for the procedure. You just lie down and let it happen. You're not closed in, you feel nothing and the staff are smashing. 18 to go. The side effects like fatigue and possible diarrhoea come in a couple of weeks but severity varies. Could be minimal. All good so far !! Haway the lad x

Poetic, that.

I think I know the answer but want to double check. Three times recently there has been quite alot of blood on the toilet paper when I've been wiping. This is 3 times over about a 6 week period. I don't have any pain in that area or in my stomach so wondering if I need to see a GP or if I'm worrying about nothing. I'm 39 so getting to that age where I'm getting worried about any minor ailment but I am concerned that this time it could be something to really worry about.

It might just be a touch of Nobby Stiles bleeding out onto the paper mate.

Contact your gp to have it checked, it may well be nothing to worry about but for your own peace of mind ( - if nothing else) please speak to a medically trained person.
Would I not have pain inside my arse if that was the case?
I'm not a nobby stiles expert but either way discuss it with a medic for a trained point of view.
