Prostate biopsy and psa blood test

Hello all. Having been for the consultation appointment, have just had back the PSA bloods result back. 3 months since my hormone injection and 4 weeks before the radiotherapy starts....its down from 35 to 0.6 !! So that's the hormone blocker working spot on. Have agreed to the pivotal boost trial anarl so will find out if I'm OK for that next week I think.
First bit of positive news I've had really since diagnosis so all good here and I'm ready to go.
Good luck and all the best to yous who are also going through it. Keep on hoping and pushing. Al
You bloody beauty !

Great news mate đź’Şđź‘Ť

Alreet all. Dates now set for action. 22nd and 23rd for scans. 7th March for first day of 20 radiotherapy sessions.
Been placed on the trial arm which includes the pivotal boost, which basically gives a bit extra to the area of concern within the prostate.
Still feels like a dream tbf, like I am as per normal and feel relatively OK, but reality due to kick in a little from next week I think !!

Hope all goes well with the scans, etc. đź‘Ť The process is beginning to deal with it and the winner will be yourself.

I hope all is well mate. My missus insisted i went for a check up because I'd had some symptoms etc, so had the old finger test and PSA thing and results came back last week 0.416 so all good. Best of luck to you!

Aye mine was high 6 or 7 years ago and triggered the biopsy ( clear thankfully then) Only afterwards did I ask what the reading was. It was about nine, so not Sky high but given age enough to mean biopsy.

First time I shot my load after that was like summat out of Reservoir Dogs
Mr. WHATTHE4UK !
I'd be insisting on a PSA.
Most people are not aware there are 2 types of PSA test. The usual one the NHS give you is a Total PSA test ,the second one is called a Free PSA test .( both free on NHS) But some hospitals don't offer it. Had my free PSA done via hospital ,bloods went Sheffield. This test is more accurate . Had problems only when rendering a wall,up down ladder. Pee every time i came down. Went for the Star Trek test ! DRE exam (To boldly go where no mam's gone before ) . My sense of humour.Sent to see specialist etc. Was told i had cancer (I DIDN'T) Sent for biopsy ,clear. More PSA tests every 6 months.MRI scan, clear. Any way free PSA test, much more accurate and cheaper ! Second MRI and yet another biopsy (NOT fun) Signed off the specialist after 4 years, still check every 6 months. Finally years later had another MRI this is the newest 3d scan ,quicker, more quiet. All clear, still get checks every month but only still in the mid 5's.Good. My only gripe for all the care would be get the 3d MRI first, then any anomalies can investigated quickly and more accurately.Don't be embarrassed ,the NHS are to save YOUR life. Common problem with most men as we get older . Few off my mates have Prostate cancer ,had treatment are still enjoying life.

I'm pleased that your mam hadn't had her finger up your hoop on a previous occasion. All good news!
