Poland - Gdansk

Mate from ireland was in Gdańsk last week with his sons under 14 rugby team.
They got kicked out of the water park after 20 mins and got threatened to be deported
One of the lads is Muslim and got abused from the second he got there to when he “ left “. He is a Syrian refugee and doesn’t have a passport but a travel document- apparently acceptable. However , they wouldn’t let him Leave to go home and arrested him. 14 year old. The uk embassy sorted it and he had to fly separately with a guardian to Belfast - not Dublin where he was supposed to go.
They beat every organised team they played by over 50 points to nil. They reckon the polish lads had never seen a rugby ball before.
From the day they arrived to the day they left, all they ate was smoked sausage.
They were very impressed with the youth of Poland. Very polite and shit scared of authority. Local kids have to be home by 9pm ??? At night, otherwise the police take them home. When returning them to the parents they breathalyse the parents to make sure they are fit to do their parental duties.
They aren’t going back !!!
Any of you polish regulars able to back this up.

Sounds like a load of shite when you say "they reckon"

Gdansk is a very nice City, modern, really good rail/road infrastructure and just so cheap to get around. The city itself, never seen so many bars or restaurants, and all very nice. Not so cheap, well average to here but still very nice.

The Museum of World War 2 was a treat. new building, a class tour by head sets, beautiful exhibits and for £6.00 each, just a steal.

The new riverside with its restaurants was great, Irish bar good, and the train ride to Gydnia, around 3o minutes excellent, £3.00 each return was a treat too. For 2, flights £130.. between us, accommodations for 4 nights, £230.00, a really good value break, well worth it.

Downside, daft flight times but you get over it

Aye Gdańsk is very nice place n remarkable how the city centre looks after being practically totally rebuilt after WW2.
Fab bars n restaurants n spent 6 hours in the war museum.
Cheap as chips travel on the train n only coppers for the bus to the centre from the airport n so easy to do.
We paid £70 return for 2 from ncl in March.

Just got back on Friday from Wrocław n return flights for £64 for both of us.
Another fantastic city with great bars n restaurants n enough to do with museums etc.

really nice place got to go to other places in Poland

Also recommend Riga which again is fantastic place n can get cheap flights from ncl. We went in feb 23 n had to be well wrapped up but enjoyed it.
Quite fancy Riga, Ryan Air seem to have really scaled back on winter flights, nothing for Riga, Wrocław or Gdańsk from Newcastle after the end of October.

Just out of interest, why would the uk embassy get involved for an Irish rugby team?
Spend a lot of time in Poland, and have never known of that to be true personally, but different regions may have different rules.

Worth going to n like say we went in feb this year from ncl with Ryanair so maybe they start them again in the new year.
It was -5 on a night n snowing regular but 1st time been away n snowing abroad n enjoyed it.
Would go back but I’d fly in there n get the night bus to Tallin which is dirt cheap. It takes about 5 hrs as can’t fly from ncl to Tallin n rather than travel in this country to an airport that does I’d rather do it that way.

Really. Got to go in November for work. Looks like Leeds I’ll need to go from. Or do two flights.

READ IT CAREFULLY !-- he was repatriated to Belfast- part of the UK not Ireland. he is an asylum seeker with a travel document- not a passport.

just to let you know that i have a busy and entertaining lifestyle- i wouldnt be f***ing around making up stories about a few lads playing rugby in Poland- whereas it looks like you need to have a good long look at yourself.

Where did I say you made it up?

Riga is great, but nowhere near as cheap as Gdansk mind....

Sassy rooftop bar is nice and give a good view of the city and the river....
Yeah Riga ain’t as cheap but it’s still a great place.
Went in a place that looked on to the train lines n river that had beers on a description on the blackboard of type n flavour n strength. It was numbered 1-20 so plenty choice.
