I support Sunderland and England and consider myself very patriotic but you know what, if someone isn't proud of their city or country, then fair enough, each to their own.
 
I would have been happy if England had won, but they've failed and don't deserve to go through. Gerrard is the weakest link and showed it in both games.

I am proud of my country and what it's given me, but that's got absolutely nothing to do with football.

i can only be proud of something i've had a hand in achieving. i can be happy to be english, content to be english but proud to be english? its an accident of birth, i didn't contribute to it.

Ah didums

Not many people in the north east give two shits about the england team, its rare but even when we have players that deserve a chance they don't get it or very rarely. Players make it in young and stay for life and others past their sell by date, press pressure etc. Waste of time.

I am a Sunderland supporter tbh. Really effects me when we get beat. I support England aswell but to lesser extent. For example I let out a little cheer when Costa Rica scored - I think we are fucked anyway and I also despise the way Italy play.

The real worry for me is that the people who get so upset about England getting knocked out will spend the next decade f***ing our league system up to fix the 'problem'.

Who at Sunderland is good enough to play for England man? Get real. Fair enough Kevin Phillips back in the day but the players he was competing against was ridiculously high. Andy Cole and Robbie Fowler didn't get much of a look in and they banged goals in at a higher level for years. Don't get me wrong I'd have loved to see Phillips in the team but you can see why he wasn't picked. Why should who the players play for matter anyways. So fuck if they aren't from our club, support them anyways
