You just have to look at the contempt shown to SuperKev at the time, I think that's when I lost any real affection for the national team, things that have happened since have just proved me right.

Thanks for that - we were shite before the PL became a global band and we've got worse now that it is.

Now we only pick the team from the top PL clubs to preserve the brand, the continuing selection of Glen Johnson beggars belief.

In your words they can fuck off.

It doesn't matter that they were winners before. Their "Stars" have been found wanting.

Watch them live once a yr! either at wembley or Europe. Never seen them outside Europe though. - I watch every other England game on the box though, if that's what you're on about that youre doing?

Spend a lot more money and effort following SAFC though. Maybe that's why when they lose, even in less important games it means more...

The organisation behind the FA is disgusting, as is FIFA. Both organisations have consistently proven to be a farce in recent years. The England team of the 90's were worth caring about but, also partly responsible for the demise of 'the working man's game' by insisting on being paid a lifetimes salary in a month.

Why should anyone give a shit about such a thing other than the investors? This is not about being patriotic. Besides, England gave that away when it sold it's own people out in favour of cheaper labour from abroad.

Playing for the national team is less important than your club, been that way for years now. The OP's thread is heart-warming at best.

Not really, when managers like capello etc refused to come up here and watch players AND advise them to leave the likes of Sunderland, it doesn't sit well with me, there's an obsession with international football that I just don't get, this coming season, there's 3 international breaks before October, that is annoying.

The last time we had a player genuinely worthy of being called up to the squad for a world cup he was told by the then manager to leave our club to further his England career. It's been downhill for Sunderland ever since Darren Bent was encouraged to leave. This was also after the manager categorically stated players would be picked on current form and not the club they played for or reputation. Darren Bent scored 24 premier league goals in the season leading up to the 2010 world cup. Emile f***ing Heskey went instead. Why should any SAFC fan give a damn about an organisation who encourages this behaviour is beyond me.
The English national team and the FA can suck my plums. SAFC til I die. England? Meh.
