People were wrong about Short ...

He backed all the managers whilst we were in the prem, he made two mistakes in my mind. Byrne and Bain and they both let short down badly. Whilst short is the guy at the top and so will shoulder the blame, Bain has done an absolutely scandalous job, and he will walk away with a few million quid for it too.

How can you completely concur?

Left us in a very decent position.........league 1:oops:

The level of whimpering acceptance of his actions is pathetic he royally fūcked the club its not even debatable ffs.
You hate Short, I don't ... You believe he wanted us to fail I don't. As Janey says he's guilty of naivety nothing more nothing less. He's cleared the debt and given Donald a chance to get us back to the Championship ... Haway the Don.

Chuckle away all you want

Well thank you, kind sir :)

.... and it's killing them.

There must have been dozens of posters who vehemently insisted Short had a plan to take the club into administration and 'thereby line his pockets' or whatever. Even logical replies by people who understand finance, such as @Grumpy Old Man, were dismissed out of hand by people who 'knew better'.

I suspect this is the reason for so many of these 'I bet there are hidden clauses from Short and we'll be paying him for years' threads.

I've seen people claiming all kinds of dirty tricks regarding the takeover that will come back to haunt us, they simply refuse to believe we're debt free.

FFS lads, just accept he's done the decent thing and has given us the chance to draw a line on the past. Going back over Short, Bain, Byrne, etc etc etc is destructive and part of the problem. It's often said, on here, that there's a self destructive attitude from people who just happy clap and accept shit ..... so why don't those people look on the bright side, for once, and accept this opportunity to rebuild the club in the right way, just a thought.

People were right, he has dragged the club into the back of the beyonds.

Deserves every bit of criticism he gets.

How strange

You quote my OP yet, looking at your comment, it's obvious you read the title only .... that's where you went wrong you see.

I’m confused with this thread.
I presume some posts have been deleted

Quite a few mate.

For years people have declared that Short was a crook who was taking the TV money, lining his pockets and deliberately taking the club into administration.

They started endless threads about how he was holding out for £120 million and would leave the club in massive debt.

Now, they feel a bit daft, and can't just hold their hands up and admit that Short has done the decent thing.

So they're concocting wild conspiracy theories and claiming he's robbing the club by stealth and his 'hidden clauses' will cripple the club for years to come.

Much easier to just shrug, say fair enough' and move on ..... but they insist on thrashing around and posting totally unfounded libellous comments.

The Mods have done the right thing and binned them ;)

I’ve always empathised with Short (except for this season where he washed his hands of us).
I think @janey post a bit further up succinctly expresses my views (which I have posted on here previouly) exactly.
He gave it a good go, heart was in the right place (as we can see by his wiping off our debt), just let down by several managers (who we all wanted) buying shit players.

Half a million quid a week for ten years its cost him according to the above article.

Short made many mistakes in his time at SAFC. But I've never believed he didn't want to do well - just trusted the wrong people who spent his money in a horrendous fashion to the point that he stopped putting it in.

He has spent comfortably more in his time here than every other owner combined. We can't complain over how much spent, particularly in the early days. We can complain massively over how it was spent.

He has made mistakes and plenty of them but that’s some gesture to wipe out probably £150m of debt.
Also holding on for people he felt would be in the best interests of the club, he probably could have cut and run for more money elsewhere.
I hope in a few years under new owners in the premier league he can come back and get a good round of applause.
This is spot on nice one marra.
