What? To several hundred people - some probably intoxicated and likely unreceptive to reasonable argument? RightoHe if is that outraged he should have said something at the match
Thats an outrageous post. All this site is now is people constantly outraged about something.
It didn’t spoil the performance or the night, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worthy of mention or debateHe's the one that's offended, most people put it down to mindless idiots and dont let it spoil what was a great performance on the pitch.
If it offends you that much then don't go to the matches. Every club has small minded individuals, nothing you say or do will change that unfortunately.
It was hundreds - before, after and virtually non-stop during the game. Not just “pissed up kids”, either. Embarrassing, manI ignored this thread assuming it just a group of mates singing it. Just watched the highlights and it sounded like hundreds! Bizarre.. and cringeworthy.
Ignorance should never be an excuseTrue, but by the same token, you would hope somebody who knew better would give me a clip around the ear.
Additionally, ignorance is never an excuse, and back in the day mitigating circumstance could be argued due to the lack of available news which is now at everyone’s fingertips, which makes it even less defensible.
It’s probably all down to the cheap coke they are hoovering.
The ironic thing is the most offended people are those offended at the OPs comments when he didn't say he was offended just thought it was embarrassing. Which it was.All this site is now is people constantly outraged about something.
Whilst I see the Ops point....my overriding sense from last night's game was pure elation....it is by far the most comfortable i have been watching the lads in years....the kids and missus had a great time..and we were totally buzzing.
It's a shame I guess that not everyone had the same experience
Well said bossYes, it happens and has happened at football forever and to be honest I expect it at the match.
But that doesn't make it right and doesn't mean @Keawyeds shouldn't be calling it out or it should be acceptable.
We absolutely should be engaging in banter and taking the mickey out of the opposition team and their supporters - but there are plenty songs we can use for that which don't involve racism or non-existent sexual offences.
I get what your saying and again I don't disagree with your point one bit, however times have changed and I have seen op on here saying they (the young lads chanting) should have been confronted or get a clip, however, times have changed and other fans/police etc can't do that anymore or they'll be locked up. TBH, personally I hear less and less stupid/obscene chanting these days, however that's not condoning those that still doing it..I was seventeen when the Falklands war was on and Ricky Villa came to Roker with Spurs, being young and daft I called him a f***ing Argentinian t**t from the front of the Fulwell. A copper came and tapped me on the shoulder and said anymore like that and I was nicked. I didn't do anymore and it was lesson learnt. I didn't think the copper was out of order pulling me up, I acknowledged I was the f***ing stupid t**t
