Pathetic and embarrassing chanting

Start getting your facts right before saying we had a paedophile playing for us. Yes, he committed an idiotic offence - but he certainly was NOT involved with pre-pubescent children - therefore NOT a paedophile.

And you talk about folks being "as thick as a submarine door..." Pot. Kettle. Black anyone?
Imagine defending a sex offender with semantics. The outrage.......

This is a very typical SMB thread mind. The team are doing well, so attention turns to the fans.

I haven’t read the thread, but I am willing to bet that someone has already accused our fans of being right wing.

At the end of the day, its a few daft kids acting up during a third round cup game. It wasn’t the whole stand ffs.

If we win on Saturday, I fully expect a thread about how shit the atmosphere was.
Let's be honest many of them don't have the brains to be right wing. Involves conceptualisation beyond their developmental years. No different to other clubs

Find them, warn them and if they don’t improve ban them.
To be honest Mallard that would be the only way you could deal with it.The offence of Section 5 Public Order is ' found committing ' so short of having a cop at the scene at the time.It has to be dealt the way your suggesting.

The Charlie Wyke chant is embarrassing, and some of them singing it (and it wasn’t just “a few pissed up kids” around me) are probably among those upset when other fans sang about Adam Johnson.
Each time it started - pre-match outside the Red Robin, on the way to the ground, after the match and almost every other song during the game - I cringed.
No, it won’t stop me going to games, but it doesn’t stop me having an opinion on it either.
It’s not just moaning for moaning’ same sake after what was a great performance. There are dozens of positive threads about last night. This is the only negative one I’ve seen. That was the only negative from last night as far as I’m concerned

sarcasm is missed by some. Young daft lads being young and daft. I was daft when young, but I was also punished if I was too daft. I don’t know, it is all abit embarrassing.

You seriously need to put things into perspective. The chanting was carried out in all likelihood by pissed up young uns. ( Not pleasant material, I accept ) at a football match. If you find that offensive then I'd suggest you pop into your nearest nick and make a complaint under Section 5 Public Order Act .
Trust me, you would be laughed out the nick

it was more than pissed up young uns

It wasn't even predominantly that around me - actual grown men singing it. It never got massively loud compared to eg the Red Flag last night but there were plenty of people singing it and, aye, people can sing what they want I guess but equally others have every right to point out what total f***ing spenks they're being.

As much as anything it's just beyond me why you'd want to sing something that a pretty clear majority on here think is pathetic and embarrassing and which they won't join in with. Great stuff lads, let's have an absolutely shite atmosphere because some banter lads think it's funny to nick a song from the Mags that calls our successful striker from last season a wrongun.

First match I've been able to get to since March 2019. Absolutely loved it. I can't remember the last time I saw us win in person, and win so convincingly.

However, a contingent of our traveling fans were nothing short of embarrassing with their choice of chants.
The occasional "Fuck the IRA" chant was utterly ridiculous considering
1) James McClean wasn't even playing he wasn't even on the bench
2) 1996 was the last action of the IRA in this country. most of the idiots chanting this probably weren't even born then, and if they were they should know better.
3) Get the fuck over it. He hasn't played for us for years

The even more ludicrous chant was
"Sunderland boys were on a bender. Charlie Wyke is a sex offender".
Let's break that down shall we?
Sunderland boys on a bender sounds more like a homoerotic gangbang rather than a night on the booze, but of course not many things conveniently rhyme with sex offender and I doubt the inventor of the chant could manage to rhyme nonce.
Charlie Wyke is a sex offender - Wow. I mean, really? The bloke scored an absolute hat-full last season (shame he only managed 9 in the previous 2 seasons). An opportunity came up for him to sign a 3 year deal and he took it.
He followed the money. Like many of us would. You get next to nowt for loyalty these days. We need to stop being so f***ing precious about things.
Wyke didn't even play last night so what was the point?

We had an actual sex offender playing for Sunderland. A real one. A paedophile. Why do some of our lot think it's fine to throw that kind of slur around at anyone else? Particularly players who didn't leave on bad terms, they just left.

A great game with some excellent football from us, tainted by some of our lot who are frankly making themselves look as thick as a submarine door. I'd like to think that's not the case. We're better than this. Aren't we?
I won't even bother mentioning the morons who boo'd the taking the knee (for all of 3 seconds of it). I suspect if there's a venn diagram of the people who did that and the idiotic chants it would be a perfect circle.
Adam Johnson wasn't a paedophile FWIW

Football is for everyone. Except racists, drunks and anyone of a disreputable nature who sees the great game as a day out with mates.

Daft young lads have a few beers and sing embarrassing songs shocker...
The Garden Shed song is embarrassing.

Lifting a tragic song from the Mags and wedging the name of our ex- striker in it, is cretinous behaviour.

There is a stark difference, one is bellend material, the other is scummy.

Definitely nothing weird about pedantically defending Adam Johnson by insisting that he was in fact a different type of criminal sexual predator either, like.

Are you sure you’ve been to a football match before? I know you’ve said you had, but honestly this reads like you haven’t.

Bowls might suit you better.
