Pathetic and embarrassing chanting

First match I've been able to get to since March 2019. Absolutely loved it. I can't remember the last time I saw us win in person, and win so convincingly.

However, a contingent of our traveling fans were nothing short of embarrassing with their choice of chants.
The occasional "Fuck the IRA" chant was utterly ridiculous considering
1) James McClean wasn't even playing he wasn't even on the bench
2) 1996 was the last action of the IRA in this country. most of the idiots chanting this probably weren't even born then, and if they were they should know better.
3) Get the fuck over it. He hasn't played for us for years

The even more ludicrous chant was
"Sunderland boys were on a bender. Charlie Wyke is a sex offender".
Let's break that down shall we?
Sunderland boys on a bender sounds more like a homoerotic gangbang rather than a night on the booze, but of course not many things conveniently rhyme with sex offender and I doubt the inventor of the chant could manage to rhyme nonce.
Charlie Wyke is a sex offender - Wow. I mean, really? The bloke scored an absolute hat-full last season (shame he only managed 9 in the previous 2 seasons). An opportunity came up for him to sign a 3 year deal and he took it.
He followed the money. Like many of us would. You get next to nowt for loyalty these days. We need to stop being so f***ing precious about things.
Wyke didn't even play last night so what was the point?

We had an actual sex offender playing for Sunderland. A real one. A paedophile. Why do some of our lot think it's fine to throw that kind of slur around at anyone else? Particularly players who didn't leave on bad terms, they just left.

A great game with some excellent football from us, tainted by some of our lot who are frankly making themselves look as thick as a submarine door. I'd like to think that's not the case. We're better than this. Aren't we?
I won't even bother mentioning the morons who boo'd the taking the knee (for all of 3 seconds of it). I suspect if there's a venn diagram of the people who did that and the idiotic chants it would be a perfect circle.
I see you like to get your facts right so just to correct you..we have never had a convicted sex offender playing for safc!Johnstone was sacked immediately he was convicted.I guess you don't think there are any "wise men" In Sunderland as well?and Koreans don't eat labradors ?or mags don't punch horses?

I definitely thought that Wyke song was cringey as fuck. Seemed to be mainly younguns singing it.
So accept it for what we it is then, a few pissed up young uns...
Standard default logic from the resident right wingers on here unfortunately.

People aren’t allowed to discuss their opinions of a largely negative situation and people should just not bother going.

Id be interested to know their views of what isndeeemed unacceptable and when it should be called out. Or should we all just turn a blind eye and not go and allow those with the loudest voice to crack on…?

Don't you like the concept of free speech, even if it offends you ?
No thought not....

Shhh! You're not allowed any criticism of our fans on here marra!

1600 down last night, decent turn out and good vocal backing for most of the game, but invariably there are bunches of mainly young, skinny, probably soft as shite, pissed up, supernoodle-haired virgins in their freshly laundered Stoney jumpers jumping around like total bell ends either in the pub before the match or on the concourse in the ground

when its hundreds doing it, it can make for a good atmosphere, as long as its a decent chant. when its 4 spotty little teenagers trying their hardest to put on a deep sounding voice, bouncing around in front of people just trying to have a half time pint and bit crack, singing a song stolen off our rivals about charlie wyke being a sex offender, its sad as fuck. was the same outside the red robin before the match, 95% of people just stood round drinking and having a bit crack, and 6 young lads singing about the IRA in peoples faces.

of course, let them crack on, doesn't really effect me. doesn't mean i can't think its sad as fuck

Funny these threads always bring out the same characters desperate to kick our fans..

As suggested above if you have a problem with it, call them out there or sing over it?

There’s always going to be a level of stupidity unfortunately when alcohol is involved…
