That was on the TOTP episode from 1978 that they showed on Friday night. 'A millstone in the history of pop music' as Sounds used to describe the song. One of those strange episodes where you also had The Adverts 'No Time To Be 21', Sweet minus the glam make up, Smokie gurning at the cameras at every opportunity and the brilliant one offs Althea & Donna.Went to bed with Figaro by brotherhood of man swirling round my head constantly ffs nee idea why.
That was a different program, songs that didn’t hit the top 40I started watching this and then the pedantic thing reared its head and I had to switch it off.
A true one hit artist has success with a single and is never seen again - Like Nena - 99 Red Balloons.
But Bryan Adams is a major international artist and Tracey Chapman was very successful
Aye this thread was 3 programs in 1That was a different program, songs that didn’t hit the top 40
Aye but the same type of vibe though. Fair enough if they never get another chart entry but it’s not right including huge world famous acts. That was a different program, songs that didn’t hit the top 40
Nah, if they weren’t famous who would be surprised if their song wasn’t a hit?Aye but the same type of vibe though. Fair enough if they never get another chart entry but it’s not right including huge world famous acts.

The only just dead Frank Farian's, other, other project.Done by The Far Corporation, if I remember rightly
Farian was a genius - however iffy the “who sang what” stuff was.The only just dead Frank Farian's, other, other project.
At least this one played and sang, Robin McCauley was one of the vocalists and the band included various totos.
Music papers in the 70s used to have ads from record shops which would include Zep singles but they were always imports.
He was, the pretty face/anonymous singer lark has gone on forever, no-one boycotted any musical that Marnie Nixon dubbed, Andrew Gold's mam btw.Farian was a genius - however iffy the “who sang what” stuff was.
To be honest, she probably wouldn't have written a song about a Welsh witch if it wasn't for cocaine or another drug.
Could certainly do a volume 3
