One Hit Wonders At The BBC

Quite an entertaining thing for a Saturday night. Some of the artists have surprised me: Curtis Mayfield, The La's, Patti Smith. I thought they had all had at least a couple of top 40 singles. Calling Don Henley a one hit wonder is a bit odd as he had several big hits with The Eagles.

Yeah, Curtis and John Denver both had more hits in the US. I think Tracey Chapman is similar. She was briefly massive everywhere but only had the one hit single in the UK for some reason.

I was dreading Lieutenant Pigeon coming on but checked and thankfully they had anotherTop 20 hit as well as 'Mouldy Old Dough'

Yeah, I thought "Talkin' bout a Revolution" was a hit for sure but wiki says it reached number 85.

Likewise I thought Patti Smith had a hit with 'Frederick' her ode to hubby 'Sonic' Smith but it only got to 63.
