Kristjaan Speakman added: “We are delighted to welcome Omar to Sunderland. He’s a player with extensive experience in European Club football and at the international level. It was important for us to identify and add a left-sided centre back for the group, and ensure the profile was aligned to our game model. In Omar, we have an aggressive and athletic player who can move the ball efficiently in possession. He’s connected to our story and where we want to go, and naturally excited about the opportunity to play in the Premier League.”
Once they got into their stride Kirchhoff and Mvila were nigh on best CM partnership in the premier league. They made it look so easy, and to be fair none of us had heard of either before they pulled on the shirt.Kirchhoff has forever taught me to give it at least one game.
HonkWhere is Honk, anyways?
Call yourself a whinger, sorry winger? Learn RTG lore young soul xI'm pretty sure that means summat to you marra. Nee idea what it means for the rest of us.![]()
Yeah look, we are agreeing more than disagreeing. As I said, the fact that he plays so many short passes doesn't mean he can't play that way, just that Getafe probably don't want him to. But I think you've misinterpreted his long pass stats, as his long pass success rate is actually quite poor. But because he tries so many, even at less than 50% success rate, his total completed long passes are still pretty decent. If you compare with someone like Luke O'Nein, who Alderete at this point is ostensibly competing with, 09s long range passing stats are much better, not simply as a comparison with peers, but looking at percentage completed ie 09 is successful with 65% of long passes, Alderete 45%. And this is to be expected, there aren't many CBs with Luke's passing ability. Luke also miscontrols the ball much less, on a much higher number of passes received. Again, this shouldn't be too surprising considering he was a midfielder, but also that so many passes he will receive are going to be nice easy, lazy passes between the back line. 09 doesn't lag behind Alderete as much as you might guess regarding percentage of aerials won, but its also clear that he competes for much less, around 2.5 per game compared to Alderete's 4.5I've recently started looking at the data on there and yes the full data because of the over emphasis and use of it on here as being absolute. Often its used without context, being selective leaving out some of the more negative data or maybe not using it fully.
In this instance you've made that interpretation on his passing data that he's instructed to go long more often than not and that Getafe don't play out or between the centre backs. Whilst the latter is probably true to a degree per 90 he's attempting 7.12 short passes, 14.06 medium and 11.09 long. If you look at all their defensive players it's pretty much replicated that they play more medium passes, though as you would expect the fullbacks, likely being used more are getting close to medium with short passes.
His success rate of long passes being high as a percentile compared to his peers is likely what's confused the issue, but he's attempted and been successful with more medium passes and his short pass success is higher than long too. His long pass attempted/ accuracy is simply higher than his peers.
In essence this could be instructions, it could be because he has a good mid to long range pass with his left foot ir they might have a blistering right winger. I guess I'm just trying to highlight how daft some of this is without watching the team and players around him.
The knock on effect for likes of Ballard, Seelt (who I believe RLB will keep in squad ) and maybe even Hume, will be significant.I think Omar is going to be a boss
Quality baller, just made of quavers.Kirchhoff has forever taught me to give it at least one game.
Dan Neil is soft as shite. Nice player, not knocking him, but he's not a unit or tough player at all.And Ballard. And Hume. And O9. And Niel.
Not a squad to be fucked with.
It’s currently living in a villa near Marbella .Tbf we retired the number 9 shirt when we gave it to Hemir
