ODI World Cup

The 2019 final was between the only two teams that play in a temperate climate, perhaps there's summat in it. But I can imagine the BCCI will ignore any instructions anyway.

The spin-friendly pitches should suit a few teams from that part of the world. If England don't win it I hope it's Pakistan just to p*ss the Indians reet off.
Just bought 2 tickets in the Mastercard pre-sale. North upper in Dharamshala v Bangladesh, about £12.50 each. There was tickets for £9.50 and £15.

Also got 2 tickets for Delhi v Afghanistan, £15 each (they were the dearest, others for £9.50 and £12.50).

Crazy that Brook hasnt been selected, I'd have him in for Livingstone. I know Livingstone can bowl but thats a bit sketchy and his batting is often one massive six and out in the same over

I'm expecting Brook to be added to the final squad

We would have to drop someone, you can only take 15.

Given the amount of quicks in there already, I'd probably swap Brook for Willey and have the latter as a reserve. Then that opens the conundrum that if Brook is in the squad Livingstone is unlikely to play and if a third spinner is needed we have Root.

The only reason I can think Livingstone was picked is he bowls leg and off, but he's hardly exceptional in either.

Brook 105* from 42 for the popchips tonight.

It is mental he isn't in our squad for the world cup. But I do get the decision.

Stokes had better not make us regret picking him instead of Harry.
Agreed . Total disgrace Brook isn’t considered good enough for the World Cup squad… Roy, Root, Malan , Stokes , Bairstow and others before Brook not for me.

Stokes is a double world cup winner (and MotM in one final and arguably should have been in the other) and regularly a big game player who steps up to the plate when required. Root is also consistently good. You could also argue Roy and Bairstow are openers which Brook isn’t. Brook is a young lad who's never played in a major tournament finals.

I'll give you Malan though.

I'd be getting a sick feeling of dread if I were David Willey of 2019 repeating itself.

Think we dont need 3 left armers in Curran, Topely and Willey in the squad.

Take Archer, Willey and Jacks as the travelling reserves for me.

Whether Brook gets in the first 11 will depend on Roy and Malans form and Stokes fitness and whether Livingstone is needed as a spin option.

Never get this argument you would be happy with 3 right arm fast bowlers why not left don't think Willey is good enough mind

Stokes deciding he wants to go has messed up the selection process. Can't say no to him but that means someone else has to make way.

I think Livingstone is more suited to the shorter T20 format because he plays a high risk power hitting game and tries to smack everything out of the park. 50 overs you need more reliable batsmen to bat long and Brook can do that with consistency. Long term I reckon Jacks will usurp Livingstone anyways

He's averaging low 20s with the ball and mid 30s with the bat I had read since 2019.

Mind this is where stats are misleading. He bats 8-10 so plenty of not outs and bowling average dictated by how he's done against Ireland and Netherlands.

Because i think we will only play 1 most of the time (Curran) with Topely as stand in for Wood etc... Think Willey isnt going to be that useful in Indian conditions as his skills are bowling with the new ball

Looks like a decent 8 or 9 players for the Saffers with not a lot of strength in depth, especially with the tweakers. Shamsi and Makram not world beaters in that department.

A lot of pressure on the young man if it happens.

If he fails career over???

Rather keep him for 4 years time and a superstar then.
