ODI World Cup

The format is shite.
True but don’t think the format would change the way the games play out.

Game is too batsman dominated and/or toss orienatated.

2019 was good because of the fact pitches weren’t road like we’d seen in the run up to that tournament in England. Conditions obviously making it more of a contest between bat and ball. This had the same format as this WC.

100% the pitches to blame for the poor shows imo. For a match to be competitive, it has to be an even match between bat and ball. Any time it deviates too much one way, we get shit matches. Hence run fests on their own get a bit boring after a while.

I'm going to be contrary, I actually like this format. Everyone plays everyone and the winner is a proper world champion. The fact it lasts for over 6weeks is a bonus for me. Point is mute anyway, back to multi group format next time.

Class ton by Sharma there, shame I can't get away with his team, just feels dirty.

Indians have batted, bowled and fielded really well so far. Hope that the Indians are doing what they normally do, peak early in the competition and then get knocked out in the semis. Hopefully.

It's a shame the Aussie bats were negated the other day on a bunsen burner and the Afghan spinners didn't get much purchase on the surface today. I wonder what surface the BICCI prepare for Pakistan on Saturday. Another turner probably, as Pakistan don't have any spinners. Not that any of this is pre determined mind, just a pure coincidence.

Australia v South Africa tomorrow.

This should be a closer contest.
We've been saying that for days man  next match will be closer...next match

Very evenly matched teams tomorrow, I agree. I'm looking forward to see these South Afrikan beefcakes square up to the Aussie quicks. Nothing would give me more pleasure than see them get twatted all over and Aussies go 0-2 but I have a sneaky feeling their batters are going to want to make amends for that shit show against the Indians.

If the Aussies bat 1st, 350+, Saffers close but no cigar is my hunch.
If the Saffers bat 1st 300-350, Aussie chase it down with relative ease.

I think South Africa are in for a rough afternoon to be honest. This Aussie team respond and adapt very well, they’ll be firing on all cylinders tomorrow.

My bet would be on a dominant Aussie win.

been looking forward to this game, wish the background noise was a bit quieter so i can actually hear the commentators

We've been berating them for not turning up, can hardly call them for being too loud .

Good few overs by Saffers after a watchful start. Pitch looks an absolute road, nothing like what this was like in the IPL.

Ha'way the Kock!
Loving this. Dropped catches, shit fielding....keep it going!

Supposedly a relayed pitch, which would explain it.

Bavuma had a couple of lives, which on a pitch like this he's now getting a ton.

Aye it looks a totally different wicket like.

Bavuma needs to kick on now, make them pay. De Kock just needs to carry on like like he is.

350+ on..
That was a painful innings to watch from Bavuma. 35 off 55 is very very poor on this pitch. Glad he's out.

Really hope De Kock isn't done with ODI cricket. Get his reasons but just sad that he's only going to be playing one format.

Surely with a home world cup in 2027 he must come back for that.
