ODI Side moving forward

He’ll be at the T20 World Cup I guess, must be rested for this series.
I thought that but Key’s comments sound like he’s been dropped on form. Malans comments the other day also makes it feel like he won’t play for England again.

Not too fussed but a bit of a waste of a contract when someone like Will Jacks who is in both squads and probably tours India didn’t get one

Stinks of not wanting Malan around anymore but without a great reason for it. They give him a years contract to sort of act as a softener instead. Easy years money for him either way.
With willey retiring, Malan was always going to be the next in line for being the fall guy

Not impressed by Key’s comments regarding unfamiliarity with local conditions - dew and heat etc.

Have we never played in India before ?

Has he never been there ?

It’s ok admitting mistakes, as long as they are plausible, but these excuses aren’t

No Sam Hain in the squad for the Windies but Ollie Pope inexplicably in :lol::lol::lol:

ODI squad: Jos Buttler (captain), Rehan Ahmed, Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Zak Crawley, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Tom Hartley, Will Jacks, Liam Livingstone, Ollie Pope, Phil Salt, Josh Tongue, John Turner.

T20I squad: Jos Buttler (captain), Rehan Ahmed, Moeen Ali, Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Liam Livingstone, Tymal Mills, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Josh Tongue, Reece Topley, John Turner, Chris Woakes.

Still feels like we are picking favourites over form, especially in the case of batters. The batters list has little to do with current form. There are 42 players with a better average than Buttler from this years T20 blast and none of the top 15 made the squad. The likes of Hain must be wondering what the hell they have to do to get noticed.
Being test Vice Captain apparently warrants being picked while having the third highest list A average ever doesn't. It was the best not long ago too.

Not heard the interview but that's poor. Most of the team have experience in India. Even if they havent, those reasons are still inexcusable and would lead one to believe that they have completely failed to prepare and that the leadership are simply not fit for purpose.

Yeah, it’s on BBC Sport - he also admitted that by concentrating on Test cricket he totally underestimated the need to have all his players reacquainted with 50 over cricket.

The 3 warm ups v Ireland and maybe more preparation in India might have helped.

He thought they just had to turn up, switch on, and away they go 😟
