What is boils to is their deluded self entitled view that they are a European Super Power and having a manager who won things at other clubs somehow makes them sit at that table and fulfils their desperation to be seen as relevant.

Rafa could have taken them down to L1 and he still would have been given God like status.

Difference being, he took over a team that had no confidence and was relegated, got then promoted and then started to build. Like I said, the performances under Rafa were shite but it's an unfair comparison.

You could also argue that Bruce inherited a side that also struggled against relegation, lost the 2 players who scored the goals that kept them up and still managed to match the mighty Rafa’s achievements.

If I remember correctly, in Bruce’s first season the vast majority of Newcastle fans believed Newcastle were odds on to be relegated, yet he matched Rafa’s 13th place finish and looks like he may achieve it again this season, despite the abuse he’s received.

Apart from he chose to spend 40m on Joelinton instead less on Rondon who he could have signed. Look, I think both are shite I'm just adding some balance.

Joe Linton was bought before Bruce came along, hard to blame him for that one. All Rafa’s bad signings were supposedly not his first choice and he was absolved of all blame.

I also think both are shite and I’m also just adding balance. Bruce is shocking, but he’s matching Rafa who achieved god like status.

Bruce is head coach. I doubt he has any real input into players (and the coach Jones) arriving or leaving. Both Joelinton and ASM were strongly linked with moves to Newcastle in Rafa's days.
