If we're playing the "who has the worst owner" game, they're still in the Prem, and we're about mid-table League 1....... so they should be careful what they wish for.

Always have same argument with my father on law. He despises Ashley and I always say.. well youre a steady mid table PL team. He has none of it.

Mid-table, steady and profitable.

They will get shot of him one day, whoever replaces him will highly likely be someone with only a fraction of the wealth Ashley does. They won’t be able to spend merely as much on players as they did under Ashley and fighting relegation every season but he/she won’t have Ashley as their surname so they’ll be treated as an icon.

They don’t know what a shit owner looks like, not a lot of them will admit that though. They’re quite happy to point out that they’ve never been in the third tier of English football, but that could’ve easily happened if he didn’t bank roll Benitez promotion push. They think they’ve been criminally ran by him, they should take a good look at us and see what shit really is, and what we’ve had for the last 40+ Years.

I think he doesn’t fully care about football in general. What he seems to be good at is knowing where his bread is buttered. He took zero chances on staying down as there is less money to be made there. Football is a business in his eyes and he fully intends to stay where the money is. Goofy supporters that want him gone need only to look 14 miles south to see what a real shambles looks like.
Agree with most of this, but I want him gone because of what you said in the first sentence coupled with his need to have things his way.

Not caring about football would be fine if he employed a director of football, or a chairman, to run the club for him. Instead, he's lurched from bad decision to disaster because he's too much of a dickhead to give control to someone else. He could have spent less overall if he'd spent money on the academy, the training ground, the scout network. Employ a competent Managing Director and reap the rewards of consistent Premier League football, a steady stream of saleable assets coming through the youth system and the commerical deals that are enjoyed by other Premier League clubs.

Won't see the back of him for a while.

Short got it wrong, but at least you can say that while in the Premier League, he backed the managers. Then he left you debt free, right?

The Donald and Methven pair of clowns were obviously charlatans from the off and if you ever want to get back in the top flight you need to get shot as soon as possible.

Just because you've got a shit owner, doesn't mean ours is good. Ashley is bad, he's admitted it himself. Wise, Keegan, Kinnear, Shearer, Pardew, McClaren, Bruce, none of them should have been given their jobs. He never should have renamed the stadium because it was always going to get more negative press than positive, and therefore it was never going to be an attractive branding opportunity for a company. Hell, even Wonga knew that the best thing they could do is revert the name to St James'.

Ashley wanted a plaything for a bit, then to sell us for a profit. Unfortunately he thought running a club was the same as running a business. It isn't.

I actually wanted the Saudis to take them over. I think it would’ve been a ‘be careful what you wish for’ moment for them.
But the fact Ashley’s ownership appears to bring them so much misery, means I’m happy for him to be there for a long time to come.

agree to an extent. I am sure if we never had the seasons we had in the decade before him he would be thought of as a decent owner by all NUFC fans. It is the stats like 15 years before Ashley = 0 relegations, 15 years with Ashley =2 relegations. 15 years prior to Ashley 9 top six finishes, 15 years with Ashley= 1 top six finish. That is what he gets judged on.

All on borrowed money though. Ashley filled the financial black hole and gas been given grief for spending more money after this. Lucky not to have done a leeds really. Leeds Sheff Wednesday safc there are many clubs mismanaged and have taken years to get back if at all. A couple of relegation ate ok if you bounce straight back. Should look at how much of past was outside top flight prior to keegan.

Cat treats? Lost on me.

I didn't know if it was done and dusted. Last I heard/saw the fantasist was still posing on the high street with randoms to 'prove' he was a serious bidder.

Your new owners going to turn you around? You'll need someone who knows what they're doing to get you out of League 1, but give you a good platform to build on to survive and then climb the Championship. You don't want another owner who'll just throw money around and fire a manager every 6 months.

You know exactly what im on about you sad fat meff

He's a f***ing brilliant owner. Steady as a Rock Premier side who have spent a fortune over the last few years. They'd be out of business without him. Yet the deluded fuckwits expect to be Kings of Europe cos they almost won the league under Keegan
