Would potential champions league football and potentially winning major honours change your mind? Genuine question
It’s hard to say isn’t it, but I think it would feel so disconnected & done the wrong way that I wouldn’t enjoy it (assuming the owners are murderers like in this case)
How imminent is it, ours was imminent and still took about 18 month and then it wasn't what was first mentioned.
Pretty imminent according to most media

Let's be honest something like this always had a decent chance of happening. Like it or not Newcastle are one of the best supported clubs around mainly due to them being a 1 city club a bit like us tbh

They were always going to be an attractive club to buy for someone with mega money behind them.

The problem they have though long term is trying to break in to the top 7 or 8. man utd, man city, Liverpool, Chelsea are huge football clubs who already have years of a head start. You also have the likes of spurs arsenal Everton Leicester.

I don't care what anyone says London and the north west will always have a bigger pull to top footballers and their wives. That will always work against them.

It's a sad state of affairs mind when the local media and politicians don't give a fuck about the type of people that are buying the club. Almost pleading with the government and premier League to let the barbaric regime in.

I don't think the Saudis will be happy to just make up the numbers in the premier League, they will have ambition I'm sure but doing it these days with ffp etc is a different matter

Regarding your point about breaking top 7/8. What is most important and refreshing will be showing the ambition to actually try and do it and not settling for 4th bottom.

I get why they are very excited, but they need to take a bit of a step back like. I’ve seen tweets saying they need to move from SJP if they get even a tiny bit of success as they will need a capacity approaching 80,000.

Although they are in a very strong position, in order to fully maximise the impact of their backers, they will desperately need to double (if not treble) revenue. Everton have spent hundreds of millions and now have to operate under constraint.

Managed to avoid the news today at work but just been past their ground and it’s full of gravy stained simpletons. Hope they don’t announce anything today just to annoy those fuckers

2nd bottom now like

new manager could go well, could go badly

and are the players gonna be that arsed about a relegation battle that, if they survive - they know they’re not in the club’s long term plans other than perhaps Wilson and ASM

Excellent point. The current squad would be far better getting relegated. Whilst it is easy for Newcastle fans to play Championship Manager the reality is it is not as simple as that. The Man City owners inherited a far better established squad having finished 9,16, 8, 15, 14, 9. Interesting last game of the season they were beaten 8-1 by Boro ( ) - not sure if takeover was known then but most of that squad moved on or became bit part players the next season.

Thats what they said about ours.

The Ruben brothers are businessmen they've made their money through their property portfolio.

They've probably already worked out how many flats or student digs they can convert Sid James into. That'll be why they are involved

I’m a City fan, and in an absolute minority amongst us, but don’t like what the club has become - investment to compete is one thing, but winning because you have the best depth of quality is inevitable rather than achievement, and ultimately hollow.

Saudi Arabia are replacing Newcastle United, not investing in it. Any success belongs to them, and the fans are just along for the ride. They’ll probably bribe the local council like our owners have and secure land deals at shamelessly discounted rates, and their fans will lap it up like ours do because they’re so deprived of ‘success’; morality is soon abandoned by the desperate with dubious promises of prosperity

Hopefully the Super League does go ahead, allowing the remaining proper clubs to compete and legitimately have a chance of winning or qualifying for Europe without the sugar daddy clubs creating an elite league within the Premier League.

Well said

Thank you for articulating my feelings on it. I truthfully wouldn't want to be a Newcastle (obviously!) or a City. I know I, like you am in a minority.

They're all freely available to invest in on the stock exchange. NUFC aren't.

More importantly people don't support them businesses the same way football fans do, as far as anybody is concerned you are about to be painted as terrorist funding, murdering religious fundamentalists. That's Newcastle United now.
if its used as an investment vehicle and the saudi's take money out of the club over time, newcastle will be funding the saudi's to bomb yemen and train the next bin laden.
