That day on here was amazingly amazing! Fond memories, like of the best party you ever went to and will never forget. Oh how we gloated, drank and cried tears of joy and laughter, as they cried a river, with tracks of their tears, rolling down gravy stained tops.

Amazing day, amazing night, the memories are golden!! :)

Yep. That season nearly killed me. If it went the other way id have probably packed in football

Are we (or any other fans) that different? We all want to improve, progress and have something to shout about.

I first started going to matches in our 1987 division 3 spell. Following that we were an average 2nd division side with a brief spell in the top flight. Reid came in and changed that, we got the two 7th place finishes, were in a position to kick on and then we got really pissed off with Reid as he seemed to dismantle that quality attacking squad for a slower more defensive one.We slid down the table and wanted him out. I think it was Chaplains I was in watching Reid's last match at the mags place and even at the team line up, there was a groan and a feeling that we deserved better because we had a hint of being a European contender. We were not looking at where we were 5 years ago. What is the point of progressing if you are all happy to go back to being the 35th best team because you had a couple of memories of being 7th?

Fast forward a good few years and we were frustrated at being a last minute pull out of the relegation pack team and wanted someone to change that. Not quite in the way Moyes did, but we were looking at the next few notches up the league table and demanding we got the playing staff to get us there.

They had a taste of a higher and longer level of success (or at least elevation) and want it back. You are right that you can't just bankroll a club and I do think the likes of Chelsea and Man City have fucked up the entire football pyramid. But if we were in their position would we not be looking at the likes of West Ham, Brentford, Brighton, Leicester and Aston Villa saying we should be able to compete with them? No disrespect to Brentford but is it not a travesty that we are having our 4th season in League 1, while they are mid-table Premier League with 16k crowds.

If you don't want to progress year on year, you may as well not bother.

I'm sure you're right in that some would, however every club has a natural ceiling. I may be wrong and have conformation bias but I dont hear as much from 10 other premiership clubs stating they're a husk of a club and are sick of it.

I remember some of ours being pissed off with coming 7th for the second time as we hadn't "progressed", thought that was rediculous as well. Its stands to reason that not every team can keep moving forward. As it stands the mags are one of the top 20 clubs in the country and for them to carry on like its beyond bad is beyond ridiculous imo there.

If any set of supporters deserved owners like that it’s the deluded ones up the road. Could you imagine the outcry if they got relegated this season and the new owner refused to bankroll them to bounce straight back like Ashley has done.

My mag mate is adamant that a story will break about the club being sold on Wed/Thur to defuse any protest on Friday. It will be bollocks but will buy Ashley more time
Don’t let it go to your head Hank you’ll probably get a load of PMs I’ve been inundated

I was thinking about charging £20 for a signed picture mate, but I’m worried at that price they will sell out quickly and leave a lot of folk disappointed
