I guess you’re all going to stop using facebook because they own a decent chunk of them. Or stop going on Cruise holidays because they own a chunk of Carnival. Or stop watching super hero movies or taking your kids to theme parks because they own a chunk of Disney? No.. didn’t think so 😂
What a shit argument. Another moron trying to justify being owned by murderers and thieves.

Is that not showing my displeasure like ?
You already sing songs about us man, this is hardly new. You are fucked off because we are wealthy - at least be honest.

If you were genuinely aggrieved that the Saudi's had infiltrated the sport, you would be doing something about it.
Sportswashing in action, clear as day.
So you don't think this country has ever committed any atrocities of its own? Righto. I assume the deaths of innocents in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria is ok?

The FT article on all of this is superb, and hits the nail on the head.

Yes, this Saudi state incursion into the EPL is by far the worst of the unpalatable, immoral “sportwashing” episodes in the U.K. However it’s not the first by any stretch. The EPL has allowed a creeping advancement of blood money etc in to the game, on the basis that a bloody dollar spends just as well as a clean one. That said - it’s ultimately our own (i.e. society’s) fault. We’ve created a society which doesn’t really stand for anything. Yeah we say we do - “rule of law”, “democracy”, “western freedoms” etc - but ultimately what we all believe in is money, and our freedom to buy what we want with it.

The upshot is that this particular week, we’ve got thousands of people in Newcastle dressing up as/celebrating a known murderer and terrorist-funder, because they’re convinced that he will buy them a trophy in a game, played by people they’ve never and probably will never meet. That’s not because there’s something evil about Newcastle supporters - we all know plenty of them and we all know that the majority of them are very decent people, no different to any other “fans”. It’s because our society has conditioned itself to see what it wants right now, and not ask questions about the “how”, so long as we get it.

It’s not a Newcastle problem and it’s not even a football problem - at least in the meaningful sense. It’s a societal moral problem. We should all be paying more attention to it, and thinking about how our society could be better/have some more moral backbone, but we won’t.

Darren Bent is loving this takeover talk, cant stop smiling thinking about who they could sign. So much for respect for his former team.
