NUFC/Sportwashing

Brilliant - so they dressed up in Saudi National dress and carried Saudi flags in the expectation that your scouts will now uncover a few good Saudi footballers?

It’s entirely natural and logical to celebrate the departure of Ashley, by holding up flags saying “There is No God but Allah, and Mohamed is his Messenger”.

Everyone knows that the reason Newcastle supporters hated Ashley, was his failure to sufficiently praise the Prophet.

The saddest thing about these ***** are that they’ll happily start protesting against plenty of the points raised if they don’t spend 50 billion on new players

they’ll all beat them with the same shit they’re currently defending :lol:

Let me know when you are out protesting and I will join you.

Some have very clear moral objections to our ownership, others are using this as a stick to beat Newcastle fans as you are jealous of the takeover.

If you were the first, you would be doing something about it. You keep saying how you will be sending out angry tweets as if that's enough. If you genuinely care, I look forward to you informing me of the actions you are taking to share your views.

I think you will find that I'm left of centre and have always been against the deaths of innocent people.
Crikey you have really lost the plot today.

You're basically saying that unless you rock up at some amnesty international march you can't hold the opinion that you're owned by one of the most oppressive and despicable regimes in the world. Which isn't even an opinion. Its a fact.

People aren't necessarily angry. I find it f***ing funny tbh that your club is owned by such a barbaric, murderous, blood stained group.

Here's your chance. What's your position on the Saudis and a bloke who's given the Conservative party hundreds of thousands of pounds owning NUFC ?
It’s a tough one to get my head around. I work in an industry that has heavy dealings with KSA which goes against my moral and political standings but pays well and I can feed the family. This means I’m already compromised but I also have experience of this situation as I’ve worked in the industry all of my life.

Am I comfortable with the new owners? No. Will I stop going? No, I’ve been going for 48 years and it’s a habit I will never lose now. If (and it’s a big if), we do win a trophy will it be tempered as it’s oil money that’s bought it, probably not.
Are the knackers outside dressed as Arabs knackers? Aye
Do I still think the PL is corrupt to fuck? Yes. This hasn’t changed since they’ve changed their mind and if anything it’s now even more obvious that they’re rotten. They only backed down as that rottenness was going to be revealed in court in January.
Will I still be political on here? Yes. As I said yesterday I rarely comment on football as I find the whole rivalry thing pretty dull and I think it’s disrespectful for opposing fans to slag off the team who’s board they are on!
The funniest thing about the whole takeover is how 3 or 4 ardent right wingers on here have suddenly become massive liberal, human right defenders.
They were no doubt cheering whilst Dominic Raab was spouting to the Tories that the Human Rights Act needed tearing up.

Remember lads. Mag in Pieces questioned what’s the point in protesting against their new owners since there’s nothing they can do about it, and will crack on just going to support his team.

Was this the case with Ashley?

Shouting at shops was the ploy last time out, let's see what they get up to this time when it goes belly up.

I will be joining thousands of other football fans around the country when I'm at the games singing anti Saudi songs
Look forward to this happening. Looks like you will only conscientiously object during football matches though, so you can give up the pretense that you give a shit. You don't.

Thank fuck for that, I can go to florida next year safe in the knowledge I wont be funding the murdering scum.

Don't think the kids would thank you if you only let them go to Universal.

Shouting at the Saudi Embassy could get dodgy.

I guess you’re all going to stop using facebook because they own a decent chunk of them. Or stop going on Cruise holidays because they own a chunk of Carnival. Or stop watching super hero movies or taking your kids to theme parks because they own a chunk of Disney? No.. didn’t think so 😂

You need to update your knowledge. Since it is my area of expertise I will help you.

Currently no FB, no Disney..though they do have some Carnival (CCL). What do you call a big chunk? Nearly all of the PIF holdings are under 5% which of course gives them very little or no power to influence decisions unlike an 80% share in a football club.

Current US holdings (worth USD 14,811,158,443.58, i.e. 14.8bn). They have huge holdings in Saudi Stocks of 123.4bn USD, which they cannot sell else the market would collapse. A further 3.7bn in Hapag-Lloyd. The rest is in property and physical long term investments.

The US stocks are the most liquid and they actually took a 15bn loan out to purchase those in March 2020. The 300bn figure is a myth as most of it is illiquid.

You will see they have sold off lots of stock since. That is what they will do, they are a Fund. Likewise they will not piss money up the wall and will flip Newcastle within 5 years. The sale was at around 2 x earnings, whereas all top 6 sides are valued at 6 x earnings.

No, my point was that you are objecting in the exact same way I am. If you genuinely gave a shit, like actually genuinely, you would be doing something about it. You don't.

Nor the Disney ones AFAIK.
Best not use Uber anymore either oh dear!

PIF owns Qiddiyah,[22] spearheads the Red Sea project for luxury beach resorts,[23][24] and owns the closed joint-stock company named NEOM.[25][26] PIF owns a 5.7% stake (valued at $500 million) in concert distributor Live Nation.[27] In 2020, PIF purchased minority stakes in major U.S. companies including Boeing, Facebook and Citigroup.[28] PIF disclosed a $713.7 million stake in Boeing, around $522 million in Citigroup, a $522 million stake in Facebook, a $495.8 million stake in Disney and a $487.6 million stake in Bank of America. It also disclosed a small stake in Berkshire Hathaway.[29] PIF also disclosed an $827.7 million stake in oil company BP.[30] In 2020, PIF purchased a 2.32% stake (valued at $1.5 billion) in India's Jio Platforms,[31][32] and reduced its holdings in US stocks to $7 billion from $10.1 billion in the third quarter. It instead left a stake of $2.7 billion in Uber.[33]
