Eddie Hearn makes a good point mind.
No he doesn't. He only serves to highlight why we are not taking this seriously enough, and why the government deserve flogging.

Hearn's point assumes everyone can reach a certain fitness/health threshold -- like trying to get your head above water.

This virus has killed people old and young, healthy and unhealthy. It would be an easier situation to manage if carriers always displayed symptoms. You may contract it tomorrow and feel nothing. You then may pass it on to your diabetic aunt and kill her. No amount of her eating veggies and sunbathing is going to stop that eventuality.

What we need to do, and should have done, is implement strict testing and a strict lock down to stop the spread. You have to look at it like a matchday when the stadium empties. We've allowed COVID to slip into a crowd and now its movements are harder to track.

So, you disagree that if you're fit and live a healthy lifestyle you aren't more likely to be better equipped to fight it?

The media are looking for clicks and we provide them.

I'd also say that people form opinions based on the evidence provided to them. People see a nutter punch a horse on the news, they think he's representative of the fanbase. But he's as representative of our fanbase as the kid shitting in his seat is of yours.

Re: the deluded Geordie stereotype, it's talksport bollocks really, isn't it? This is reinforced and regurgitated by other fans. They can't be arsed to have any real insight into what the fans expect, so they trot out a bullshit cliche. Our expectations these days? Shit football and survival.
One very young Sunderland fan having too much to drink, forgetting where he was and pissing himself (think it was proved he didn't shit himself) clearly isn't representative of a fanbase. In isolation, a grown 50 something man squaring up to and then punching a police horse because Sunderland beat Newcastle (again) probably wouldn't be either. But throw in the riots on the streets of Newcastle on horse punching day which was all over sky news with fires being lit and nutters squaring up to and throwing things at the police.

Throw in the Bigg Market being smashed up when you lost a cup final (twice) which received national coverage.

Throw in Keegan having to front up to loads of nutters on the steps of St James for daring to sell a player which received national coverage.

Throw in mock funerals and bedsheet boycouts that received national coverage.

Throw in the public bullying of Robbie Savage last season at Rochdale or the cock waving at Oxford.

Throw in hundreds of entitled fans storming the pitch (before they shit themselves at the halfway line) trying to get the playoff semi final abandoned because they were losing which received national coverage.

Throw in your MP standing up in parliament because the fans aren't happy with Mike Ashley's ambitions which received national coverage.

Throw in takeover meltdoon and the same Newcastle MP this time standing up in parliament to demand ansaz which has received national coverage.

Throw in Tyler (jooorrrrrrdieeessss...like that) and Wraith and True Geordie and "Amanda Stavely will ya come and save tha toon".

There will be so much more that I and the rest of the country will have forgotten but shows you for the utter nutters that you are.

  We are totally mental like. I wouldn’t have it any other way though it’s what gives us our unique passion

Also throw-in:

Grown men, sitting behind for ages by themselves every time they were throwing the league away in the 90s, so they could get on the telly and show they were more upset than the bloke who did it the week before

Shop-shouting

Standing on a kerb, outside of a restaurant all night just to give Mike Ashley a bit of grief

Singing songs about paedophilia all game, every game whilst an ex coach of their own was being tried for crimes against young lads at their club and the local area

Their voice (the Reverend) on national radio, trying to justify one of the most barabric regimes in the history of humanity with "they're trying to change" just becasue he wants his club to spend more money on players

Yep crazy ridiculous carry on off the pitch and no wonder we sing “ we are mental we are mad”

less to laugh at when our lowest position in the last 27 years is 1st in the champo though

We've gone over this. We can do nothing about what happens on the pitch but you and yours can certainly take a look at your behaviour and stop embarrassing yourselves time and again.

Carry-on as far as we are concerned though as, it doesn't matter how far our club falls, you'll always keep us entertained.

That's not what he said.

He framed it as living a healthy lifestyle is the best way to fight it. That's not the case. The best way to fight it is wearing a mask, washing your hands, and keeping your distance. Everything else is just paint on your shield.

It was a tweet for goodness sake. He's talking sense, don't be a Mr Logic. Living a healthy lifestyle, drinking sensibly or not at all and regular exercise is the way to go. Or is he expected to list absolutely everything?

Perhaps but you have to factor in age and genetic makeup. A doctor friend of mine is treating a 50 year old fell runner, fit as can be, who contracted COVID back at the start and now has long term respiratory issues, and will likely never be the same again.

I see Almiron has started to find himself on the bench now these days

No surprise like he is f***ing garbage
Ah but the great one signed him so it'll be another reason to have a go at Bruce soon. They'll be very inconsistant this year. Long winless run after christmas as usual with SB but sadly I don't see them finishing below all of Fulham, WBA and Sheff United. Hope I'm wrong mind.
