Hearn's point assumes everyone can reach a certain fitness/health threshold -- like trying to get your head above water.

This virus has killed people old and young, healthy and unhealthy. It would be an easier situation to manage if carriers always displayed symptoms. You may contract it tomorrow and feel nothing. You then may pass it on to your diabetic aunt and kill her. No amount of her eating veggies and sunbathing is going to stop that eventuality.

What we need to do, and should have done, is implement strict testing and a strict lock down to stop the spread. You have to look at it like a matchday when the stadium empties. We've allowed COVID to slip into a crowd and now its movements are harder to track.

He framed it as living a healthy lifestyle is the best way to fight it. That's not the case. The best way to fight it is wearing a mask, washing your hands, and keeping your distance. Everything else is just paint on your shield.

Perhaps but you have to factor in age and genetic makeup. A doctor friend of mine is treating a 50 year old fell runner, fit as can be, who contracted COVID back at the start and now has long term respiratory issues, and will likely never be the same again.
