We are far from effed.
The season hasn't started yet and the transfer window is still open.
We have a lot of players coming back into the fold. A lot of decent players who can and will do a sturdy job.

Jacob Murphy wasn't given a chance by Benitez. Bruce may get something out of him.
Hendrick will do better than Bentaleb, imo....and he cost us nothing, whereas Bentaleb was 9 million to buy.
We have Lejeune back again, who is a very good defender, not to mention the rest of the CB's, so we're fine in that department.

Dummett is dependable and is no slouch at LB.

Matty has signed a new deal and that will fire him up now that speculation about him is put to bed.
Sean will come on better this season, I believe.

There's a few youngsters coming through, as well.
There's a need for a few players. A decent striker that doesn't have to be expensive...it's about finding a bit of a gem.

There's a few players that need shipping out, obviously.....but, we are in decent enough fettle as it stands right now, to bring in the few requirements.

Most other teams haven't done too much transfer business, as of yet.

Just remember, we're a club that's attempting to break into the top 10, not a club that's trying to go for Europa or champions league and what not.
Most clubs are playing also ran against the elite bunch. We are one of those clubs.... and relegation was touted when Bruce took over and yet we left that mindset of some fans, crashing and burning.

The same again this season with some fans, of " ohhhh, we'll be relegated because (pick any excuse)."

Too many fans are still living in the past and think Newcastle United deserve to be up there buying players of high calibre, no matter what...and yet think other clubs are not worthy of thinking higher than us.
I've seen and heard plenty of fans mention relegation and in the same breath belittling teams around the same stature as ouselves, as though they were our cannon fodder.
Mental.

It's time for fans to stop whining and get behind the club, no matter who is in charge or who is manager, because this club has been seeped in turmoil for far too long by too many fans deciding to walk about with a pet lip on and having poster after poster sent out to all and sundry to ensure the club is always in a negative light, all because they jumped on a hate bandwagon.

Let's put this into simple terms.

If we bought Messi, Ronaldo....basically filled the team full of top internationals and we didn't finish in the top 3 or won a trophy, with Ashley in charge....he would be to blame for wasting money and buying mercenaries and trying to kill the club by making it unsustainable.
Too many fans jumping on the bandwagon of expectation and yet disguising it as " we just want a club that tries" nonsense.
If the club didn't try, we wouldn't be where we are right now. We simply wouldn't.

As a club we are in decent fettle.
We can do better.
We can do a hell of a lot worse.
We are where we are, which is premier league and as it stands right now, we are equal top with 19 other teams.

The past is gone.....it's about right now and nothing is written for the future because there is no future, other than what's in some people's minds....and that's not any reality.
