Pre internet this would have been long forgotten about, unfortunately the web has given the worlds thickest fans a soap box to spout their shit from 24/7. The few we have at our place are in their late 40’s/early 50’s and barely mentioned it when it was still on and had a quick shrug when it was called off. They reacted like this because they’re not big social media users. The frenzy whipped up on twitter and various forums has sent some of them Gollum-esq insane, it’s not healthy man I mean look at some of the daft twats on this forum, they’re never off here so with all the other shit they look at they must basically live online. It’s pathetic.

We all love our own clubs mate, but ffs with them it’s an obsession. It’s taken over their lives. Makes me wonder what sort of lives (if any) they had to start with. Most of the older ones are like you say “would have been canny but shit happens” The others are f***ing demented.
 
Why is this still news? They are sensitive as them lot. Certainly not on the same planet as most and absolutely nothing like us, which seems mental considering our proximity and the fact lots of geordies support Sunderland.

It can only be due to the amount of arse licking the media has given them over the years that's created and unwarranted sense of entitlement. They need to grow up.

As far as I can tell, they didn’t. The PL asked for clarity regarding the ownership of the club post takeover. The Saudis couldn’t or wouldn’t provide this. The PL offered them independent arbitration. They declined. The Saudis pulled out at the same time as they pulled back from a lot of their investments. The PL have closed the matter. The mags will not accept this. This will continue to be the case as long as local newspaper employees ( I refuse to call the fuckers journalists ) keep stoking the coals for their own financial gain.
