And I get that totally.
Hypothetically what If KSA was truly trying to improve its image, and sport was part of that. It has to start somewhere!
I am part Jewish but I don’t hate every German on the planet, despite what they did to my grandad!
And whether you like it or not ‘most’ fans of all clubs would accept this investment.
As I say the reason I am on here nosing about Is my grandson is at the academy…. Not far hopefully from reserve team.
PiF's real target all along was LFC, NUFC were a back up sold to them by AS. PiF continually tested the water with LFC and the fan base and the reception was lukewarm. In comparison they received a warm welcome from NUFC as evidenced by the petition, visits to PL HQ, visits to number 10 etc. We are now in a position where random Saudi's get an invite to the Directors box, the CEO of PiF gets numerous happy birthday messages, Saudi flags all over social media, NUFC fans abusing Khassoghi's finance and calling him a terrorist not to mention the constant what about this deflection to any negativity, based on the promise of a a few signings NUFC fans have literally covered their ears and worn blinkers to purely focus on football.
I know PiF, I've worked with PiF and I am in regular contact with a senior executive at PiF. They are a fund and there will be a return. NUFC were cheap at c3 x earnings. If they grow revenue and start knocking on the door of Europe they will be worth a lot more. You will enjoy some great days out, move up the league but ultimately you will be sold on. Why else would AS borrow 30m? The owners are basking in glory at the moment but fast forward a little and they will be off social media and unable to attend the games.
Putting aside the atrocious human rights records and the attitudes to minorities I think it is bad for football for a state to own a club (and don't give me the EPL said they are separate garbage). Perhaps the UAE own City and Qatar own PSG but they are mere gnats in comparison to KSA. The only solace for the rest is you will just end up paying 100m for the next Joe Linton instead of 40m.
130 years of history sold down the river all because of the green eyed monster that are NUFC fans not been able to cope with the likes of Leicester and West Ham doing better than them.
I'd rather be in the National league than be associated with NUFC.
