Notice period

I’m working mine now before starting with my nee firm in July. Pain in the arse though as I don’t feel invested in my work because I’m off soon. Might just go up the pub with the laptop and sit in the beer garden. Too sunny to work too hard today.
I'm jealous. Love the time you're just waiting to go. Bare minimum whilst not really giving a toss.
If you did that I would insist you work full time in the office. If you didn't I would advise your new employer that any previous references will be withdrawn and a new one will be submitted detailing your behaviour during your notice period.

Last place said they were fine with me working a four week notice rather than eight as stipulated in my contract. Only I hadn't signed the contract so I don't think they had much choice.

Projects that would have taken longer than four weeks were taken off my hands and I finished up what I could. Then sat on my arse making the most of "well if you're doing nothing..." jobs from the PM for two weeks. Was boring enough working from home, would've been much worse had I had to go in.

Bored! You should be exhausted after that rant.

If you'd worked at a certain management level in corporate Britain you may have an understanding of the competence issues that prevail within some organisations.

I was employed to manage the team because the OM couldn't. It didn't work out.

With regard to his boss bullying him... he was a bona fide psycho who loved a 'yes man'. I did say the suspicion was that I was disciplined in pre-emptive move.

HR staff flirtation in that company was the norm as was the string of wrecked marriages and relationships.

I didn't mention any fraudulent medical claim, you did that. My case was settled with a legally binding agreement and payout (did I mention I also received treatment from a pilates based physio in Harley Street who bore a passing resemblance to Elle Macpherson).

You don't have to believe any of this but quite frankly I couldn't give a flying f+ck whether you do or don't.

Now bore off

Spineless managers will do anything for quiet life, especially when their employer is useless and they can see the impending dole queue.

And what, pray tell, are you blabbering on about?
Sounds like the kind of story Jay of the Inbetweeners would tell. Did you also fuck the physio and her 4 colleagues whilst getting treated and all the sex magically cured your back?

You've just admitted to feigning or purposefully inflicting a back injury in order to remove yourself from work and claim from the company. It's ever so slightly illegal.

I can't imagine there's many people called Chris in Leeds with a similar story.

Oooh call the cops it's supergrass!

Get your facts right and then grow up you dingbat

My last job I had to give 1 months notice. I had a fair few days annual leave left and lots of flexi built up, some days I was only in for 2/3 hours. It was great.

I walked out of my last job on a Tuesday morning without warning (they ran me into the ground) and sent my boss and his partner about an hours worth of voice messages on whatsapp. Essentially telling him how he is a disgrace, a terrible boss etc etc. A few months later I got a letter in the post from him threatening me with £210k of damages due to libel (I did send the voice messages to some staff like )

I’m five weeks in to my 12 weeks.
I’m working very hard and ensuring everything is in order for when I leave.
I work over my hours and intend to until potentially my last day where I may finish at dinner.

Maybe I’m just old school?

My last staff job went from a bad start to the worst position I've ever held.

The clueless and spineless ops manager was wrong about everything and loathed by everyone in his team.

I was second in command and tried to work with him and get him to understand his methods were old hat but eventually gave up after a year.

He then allowed himself to be bullied into putting me through a disciplinary despite me working my notice - the suspicion was that the director wanted to intimidate people into staying with the company (I know!) by showing what happened to those who leave.

I spoke to the HR doll (you definitely would) but she was only interested in mild to severe flirtation so I lifted something and 'injured my back'.

As well taking a £10k injury payout I got to spend the remainder of my 3 months notice on gardening leave. The benefit was more than twofold as I used my extended leave and impending accident claim to manipulate and intimidate them into giving me a glowing reference

I've not worked staff again and probably never will - ultimately I actually felt sorry for their total lack of competence.

The company folded like a house of cards
18 months later

You're attitude is disgusting here like, as if you posted this like you're some hero for feigning a back injury and committing fraud.

"Spineless ops manager" but you feigned a back injury...who's really spineless?
