Northern trains

Am I right in thinking strike action will impact the Northern Train service on Satda ?
I can get the GC to the game, but it seems like I won't be able to get a train back to H/pool after the game.

Does this mean metros are off between Hepworth and Sunderland

I've no idea about the metro's and whether or not they're affected by strike action this coming weekend.
I only found out about the weekend strike, when I looked at Northern's timetable for a train back after the match, because the last GC train leaves Sunderland at 17:30 on a Saturday.

The northern trains between the north east and carlisle yesterday were ridiculously full. Only 2 carriages on 👎🏼

It was an absolute disgrace on the way back in particular.

It was like being in a sauna it was that hot because so many people were shoe horned in - loads got off at each station stop to get some fresh air and try and cool down a bit.

Northern Rail is not fit for purpose and should be ashamed of the pathetic service they regularly offer many of its long suffering customers.

My train back from Manchester to Sheffield was standing room only when it pulled into piccadilly, full of Rotherham returning from Wigan.

Mate reckons there were empty carriages sat in Carlisle as well, that could’ve been used
