I've also seen 4 carriage northern trains running on a Sunday morning loads of times, it defies belief...
Also, I know there's a 4 carriage train pulls into Thornaby on a Sunday morning, splits into two (two carriage) trains - one goes to Whitby and one to Saltburn or MiddlesbroughThey have the extra stock on Sundays as there isn’t as many services running.

Love out like thatMy original train from Sheffield was cancelled, jumped on a earlier cross country up to York. 4 carriages standing room only and it'd not pulled into leeds yet.An inconsiderate push biker was attempting to get his bike on in front of passengers until he was informed reservations only.

That's twice this season I've planned on taking the train - and twice I've had to make alternative arrangements within a few minutes of the train's scheduled departure time. It's bollocks!Sounds like yesterday was another shoddy day of service by our pals at Northern
Northern Trains, the absolute bastards. Ruined my weekend. Was intending to go up to Scotland for a couple of nights. Got to Horden station and train was cancelled, meaning I meant missing my LUMO connection at Newcastle. Couldn't get a taxi, so decided to wait an hour for the next train and pay the excess from Newcastle to Edinburgh. After 15 mins it flashed up on the departure board, the 1512 was cancelled, then the 1612, so I went home spitting feathers. I noticed It was the same going South , it would be , as its the same train, couple of trains going back and forth from Nunthorpe to Hexham.
I could've tried again today, but I reckon the same thing would've happened, if they hadn't staff yesterday, unlikely they'll have them today, and the bus service to Durham is half what it used to be, so going from there wasn't really an option either. £170 down the tubes in train fares and accommodation costs. Why do we In England accept this shit? I know cancellations are happening everywhere in the UK but the NE is the worst and East Durham the worst in the NE.
Northern Rail is not fit for purpose, why are they still being allowed to run trains on the NE coast?.
In the past I have applied for refunds, written to Northern Rail, and local MP, but I gave up, not this time, I can't be arsed anymore, and I guess that's just how they want/like it.
Yeah we walked back to peterlee and got that same bus. There's usually other buses that miss out thr colliery but they were running a Sunday service so only that bus was onI intended getting that train but got the 14.34 bus (delayed by 19 mins...) from Peterlee instead. Mind, I was surprised that the bus went to Easington Colliery, then up the front street there. I thought it would be more direct, like - though it still took only 40 minutes to Sunderland. Not too bad for 2 quid.

Great.Departing Thornaby
4 coaches - 10:37, 11:37
2 coaches - 12:37
Departing Sunderland all look like 2 coaches after that match.

Great.
Busy this morn so I’m on the 1237![]()
Totally agree, yet again the north east is being forgotten about. An hourly service Middlesbrough-Sunderland-Scumland is rediculously poorBlows my mind how bad trains are in the north east. I live West Midlands and the trains once you get past Manchester are absolutely fine. Back home I don’t see the trains as a legitimate form of transport at all.
