Northern trains

Just catching up with this as I’m moving to Yarm in a couple of weeks. Does Grand Central from Eaglescliffe work for getting to/back from a 3pm kick off? I’d prefer to use the train rather than drive.
Grand central is the much better service to get as you’ll get a seat and the trains are better. But it is a much earlier time

Northern are often 2 carriages and packed by the time you get to Hartlepool.
But they are more frequent.

Can get the Manchester airport train from yarm to Thornaby which arrives just before the Northern services and no one ever checks tickets

Got back to Accrington station after the match Saturday and found my train delayed which resulted in missing my connections and getting home late again, same as after Bolton last season. Delay repay claim gone in.

As far as I know LNER will be off but Northern, TPE and Grand Central will be running.
aye did see the list ( was unavailable at time I posted ).

Which train companies are affected?

Train drivers at nine rail companies will strike on 13 August:
  • Avanti West Coast
  • Cross Country
  • Arriva Rail London
  • Great Western
  • LNER
  • Greater Anglia
  • Southeastern
  • Hull Trains
  • West Midlands Trains

Wonder why Northern aren't

2 carriages on the 9:30am & 10:30am services from Middlesbrough this morning! As per real time trains

Absolute joke of a service.

Which is absolutely crazy, given that in the past month or so, I've seen NT's running with 4 carriages, on a Sunday, when there's been no need to have the extra carriages on, on a usually much quieter day, for passenger numbers.
