Your username like a character out of last of summer wineJust catching up with this as I’m moving to Yarm in a couple of weeks. Does Grand Central from Eaglescliffe work for getting to/back from a 3pm kick off? I’d prefer to use the train rather than drive.

Northern are often 2 carriages and packed by the time you get to Hartlepool.
But they are more frequent.
Can get the Manchester airport train from yarm to Thornaby which arrives just before the Northern services and no one ever checks tickets
As far as I know LNER will be off but Northern, TPE and Grand Central will be running.some train companies on strike saturday 13th august ( home to qpr )

Train drivers at nine rail companies will strike on 13 August:

- Cross Country
- Arriva Rail London
- Great Western
- LNER
- Greater Anglia
- Southeastern
- Hull Trains
- West Midlands Trains

Which is absolutely crazy, given that in the past month or so, I've seen NT's running with 4 carriages, on a Sunday, when there's been no need to have the extra carriages on, on a usually much quieter day, for passenger numbers.2 carriages on the 9:30am & 10:30am services from Middlesbrough this morning!
