Northern trains

Anyone got a plan for next week yet? We’re getting quotes for minibuses £260 for 15 of us. Grand central shows as running but I’ve been informed they won’t be on due to having no signalers.
Have they put the prices up due to the rail strike?

I can’t be bothered with the service bus, I imagine it’ll be over an hour? Looking likely that I’ll just drive

Yeah most companies have. Can’t get cheaper than £260.

I thought the grand central was saving the day but not to be.
Morning. No Grand Central services will run on 1st October due to the Strike Action. More info can be found here: ^Nat

While I'm a big fan of standing firm, for what you believe is right & just, the longer these strikes continue, the less sympathy, the strikers will get from the public, especially as we're nearing Christmas, and many people will be inconvenienced by the strikes.

People need to support this - think of the big picture. Workers’ rights are massively under threat now thanks to this corrupt, selfish government.

Yep
The Christmas markets are massive and many travel by rail to these
It’s getting to be a right fuck on

I fully support the strikers, and am totally against this greedy grasping government, but I'm saying that sympathy will eventually wane, for the strikers, when many people who'd ordinarily use the trains to get out & about for shopping, in the run up to Christmas, will be inconvenienced and will be angry when rail travel becomes unavailable to them.

Sounds as though recent talks with new transport secretary gone better than previous ones, could be soon at an end. fingers crossed.
On a different note are lot of maintenance works in October ( happens every year ) each weekend between Newcastle and Edinburgh.

That’s then then. I fully support the strikes and why they’re doing it, but it’s getting to be a right f***ing pain in the arse. The north of England is so neglected when it comes to public transport. It’s literally 40 minutes up the road.
