Just seen this on Twitter.
Train companies in this country are awful. The Labour government need to make more radical changes, the whole network is a rip off and when the governments agenda is to reduce the public’s carbon footprint, its self defeating to have a train system that’s so inept many people have gave up on it. A decent train network could mean many people don’t feel the need to become a car owner in the first place.

Aye, like if Sunderland kick off at 8pm during the week you can't get a train home back to Teesside without missing half of the second half  . It's only an hour away ffs.

Given we are coming up to the 200th anniversary of this region developing the train system as we know it today, it’s remarkable how poor it is the north east. There’ll be improvised nations with a better service than the north east of England.

HS2 will sort it all out. If that doesn't, 'levelling up' will. I'm sure Rachel from Accounts will come up with the money this week.

In the mid 90s on platform 1 at Preston, I was told privatisation will sort yous out. I’d love to see that daft twat now. I agree with what you say but nowt will happen.

She was lying.

The Darth Vader haired Labour Bint was actually 'Rachel from Complaints'. She actually had zero to do with financial side of it....

David Lammy and Diane Abbott can probably count as good as her.
She’s the poster girl for ‘Making the most of your experience for your CV’.

Utterly shameful that the most important financial post in the UK can be occupied by someone with so little experience/proven ability. Much like all of the ministerial posts. Amateurs.

It's not really the topic for it but she appears to have more relevant experience for the post than Gordon Brown - the longest serving Chancellor of modern times. Her qualifications seem perfectly fine too.

Anyway, ticketing certainly needs an overhaul but it's such a shitshow at the moment that I'm not sure rectifying it would be without issues.

Must depend on the route. They are still selling them down here in North Yorkshire. I got one this morning from Knaresborough to Leeds. Fortunately, I never really have to use their DCL “service”. Grand Central is my matchday choice from down here and if there’s a problem with that I’ll just drive.

Interesting that you consider her two years at the Bank of England and a similar time with HBOS as 'little' compared to her predecessor, the son of an Admiral, Jeremy *unt who had a string of failed start-ups before making a success of PR and 'consultancy'.

My point is totally apolitical. I'm just sick of hearing about her experience with Bank of England, which was in three junior posts and her time with HBOS, which was in a complaints department. I also made the point that this was common with an awful lot of ministerial posts. I don't distinguish between any of the parties in this aspect. I find the whole concept of MPs running the country to be baffling. No qualifications required.
