Northern trains

Nearly time to start avoiding the ticket collectors again!

Just looking at the options for the Sheff Wed game and their is no Grand Central trains getting into Sunderland for kick off 🤦🏼‍♂️

9:37 and 10:35 from Thornaby both priced at £3.50 at the minute. Don’t think there is any bullet train options

After Thornaby they rarely bothered cause they couldn’t get down the tran it was that rammed 😂
Don’t know if they’ve changed that system but at Hartlepool they checked you had a ticket on the platfom

We see one most weeks now to be fair and there’s a ticket machine / office at thornaby so we have to get one now. Otherwise it’s a penalty if the conductor comes down
Ya da's mates that get on at Stockton sometimes with me n the kids (sorry im shite with names) - they get some sort of 'promise to pay' ticket out of machine, would that not work for you?

Think it depends if it’s the conductor or one of the fine patrol who are on board.

Probably not worth the risk now. Thankfully my complimentary pass is still riding

No fast services on a Sunday, just the hourly which stop all stations.

A promise to pay is if you’re wanting to pay cash. You give that to the conductor when they come down and they sell you the cheapest ticket available. If you’re paying by card you are meant do that at the machine or on app.

If you get on with nothing you will be charged full price or, worse case scenario, fined if they have the revenue staff on.

Of course if the train is too busy the guard may not be able to get down and you’ll be ok - however the 10:30 and 11:30 out of Boro are always scheduled to be 4 coaches so more room for them to walk down.

A supporters bus is the way to go.
Get picked up locally, and get drop off by the stadium, picked up at the stadium, and dropped off near your door again. Usually need to change at either York or Doncaster for Sheffield on the train as well.

Absolute thankless task for someone to organise that though
