North Stand

The Fulwell was never anywhere near away fans and I don't recall that stand ever needing any encouragement to make an atmosphere

So the entire north east corner and east stand will walk the other way around the ground to get to the new bridge? And anyone in the south stand and west stand will walk around the north stand if they want to head to the wheatsheaf or over the town bridge?

Of course they won't. The new bridge opening, the bars and events place at the stables, and the new housing going in sheepfolds makes having the away fans in that area even more idiotic..

No one will listen, the club will do it, and it will an absolute shit show almost every home game..I'm telling you now. Next home game, go and stand at the statue half hour before kick off , or for 10 mins after the end. And picture in your head the entire away end spilling out into the middle of that. It's lunacy
You do realise you can walk around the away end right? You know, just like north standers do now. What a muppet

I'm not sure they would nowadays personally. We need to designate the South Stand as the proper home end, put standing in there and actually acknowledge it's our home end now. Rather than trying to pretend that the North Stand is it, it's been a morgue for atmosphere since the stadium opened pretty much.

The South Stand should be our Kop, Gallogate, Stretford End etc which are all opposites side of the stadium to the away stand aswell. The family area should also be moved to extend it right across the stand as having the two together just doesn't make sense. Not the away stand.

The only people who seem to want the away stand moved seem to be non season ticket holders or conveniently placed in the North Stand.
Why would you not do that to the biggest end?

Any need for the abuse ?

The amount of people who currently walk past the away turnstiles pre and post match is miniscule compared to how many would walk past if the away fans were in the south east corner. The current set up let's the away fans come out of the ground directly onto busses and away with minimal cross over with home fans.

If they were in the SEC not only would they be spilling out into the busiest area of home fans but also wherever thier buses were parked would cause a head ache that we don't currently have

Genuine question, so what is the club to do when they have to give up 15% for a FA cup game? Slot the away fans in none normal ST slots randomly around the ground? (Say for Manchester United playing at SOL round 3 next year?)

They could , before this debacle, have replied to the FA and said unfortunately it's not possible to safely accommodate 6000. Best we can do is 5000 in the upper tier like has happened a few times. Then grown a set of balls and stood up for itself

Forget it being Newcastle, that’s why I put the example. So FA say it’s 15% and that’s that….. what do you do? (For example then 3rd round vs Sheff Wed where the SOL would not sell out anyway)

Put them upstairs like we did,the last time we played them in the cup .why?

I was never after compensation for being moved. Maybe a letter to all fans explaining the rationale and apologising might have been something.

I think the away fans should go back to the south stand and make the north stand the home end. Looks so much better and is clearly the home end due to its size. The atmosphere was better as mentioned on previous posts. We need a proper home end as south stand not designed for that and the smaller end. Doesn’t make sense at all

The south stand being the ‘home end’ just doesnt make sense the players warm up at the north stand for a start, the home dug out is towards the north too

Eh? The north stand was the original home end. It was designed to be that way. The south stand have the police control box behind it and cells for the purpose trouble could be
You probably can’t remember but the South west corner was so popular for being so close to the away fans and it generated atmosphere that resonated around the ground , which other areas of the ground competed with.
It was certainly preferable to the away fans being placed in the top tier allowing them to throw objects on the home fans below.
They’ve reinvented the wheel putting them upstairs and caused the problems since
Also why the BCB is in the north stand n like ya say the cells n PCB are in the south stand.
Great when ya had the south west corner in chorus next to the away fans.

Oh and then have the aftermath about throwing missiles etc.
The fact is the club were in a no win situation.
My only gripe is the BCB should have remained closed

That risk is there every other game though, and yet the club do nothing about it, and that’s the route cause.

At the end of last season we were all expecting something, either an unpopular move of fans back downstairs, or some kind of net or other method of catching shite that’s been hoyed from upstairs. Had the club done this, then Saturday would have been a lesser issue, as we’d have been able to fill that area, and once it was done, it was done.

As it happens, we ended up bringing the mags to the ground, where we were unable to segregate them easily outside, we were unable to guarantee the safety of fans below, and took the easy way out by just giving them the lot.

Piss poor planning all round.

A lot of people are citing the police cells been in the south stand as a reason for away fans to be there but from my experiance the past few seasons ofs our own fans, mainly the coked up little idiots in the south stand causing more trouble then the majority of away fans

Abuse - Christ the lord 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The away fans going to where the away busses are parked would be a good idea last I checked. Especially since they can’t be dumped in the sheepfolds for much longer due to the development there.

If you think minimal people walk past the away fans atm then you’ve obviously not been round that side of the ground

Define trouble. Throwing things onto people’s heads, ultimately, can kill them downstairs. A little kids chair was destroyed by a smoke bomb against Coventry - thankfully he wasn’t sat in it at the time, but I doubt he’d have been in a good way if he was. That’s a lot worse than a few drunk and disorderly and refusing to sit down moments

As the lower tier is smaller than the South Stand and no diehard wants to be up in the gods.

Not to mention the BCB is in the middle of it. Single stands are always better for the vocal end imo.
In my opinion the more people the more noise. The BCB is about 3 rows of seats and would allow people to be semi pampered and in the “home” end

Hardly after any money pal. Just a gesture to apologise for the inconvenience to be honest. Something that shows the club, while they make out like there wasn't any choice but to shift us, here's a 30% off at the club shop. Something small that might have had fans feeling at least a bit appreciated.

Every Newcastle gan got a free scarf yesterday. While some wil think it's just a scarf. It's their club looking after their 6k fans and being thankful
I laughed at them getting free scarves, until I got to my seat with the silver flag

What on god's earth was that???? Most of them then fell off their sticks, tore or both. Would have been better giving out free red n white scarves

Most embarrassing day ever as a Sunderland fan, I've been there constantly for nearly 50 years

The fans donated for the display which included the flags. It's the best that So37 could get for the budget. If you think you can do better then get in touch with them and you can be in charge of procurement
