Nissan

If you get TUPE across to another owner or merger between two businesses, your existing rights are protected by law.
I suspect that's what will happen, as the alternative may well be redundancy and the terms may well not be that favourable if Nissan are in as much shit as it seems from the outside.

Even with redundancy and a payoff, which is fine for the old lads with little time left, for the younger ones it would be pretty catastrophic as that redundancy money won't last long and then they have to find a job with similar wages, in an economy thats looking less and less healthy atm.

If those Chinese lads come in it could be the best thing for job security for years to come

To be fair it does sound like something Nissan would try and do if they could do it legally... 🤔
They pulled some pretty low "cunning stunts" in the 35 years I was there I can tell you...😵‍💫
How they and Pennifold got away with what they did and how they did it to the final salary pension, especially to the people who had been there over 30 years and been through all the sh*te and were the main reason it was still there in the first place for everyone working there now was a disgrace - they both wanted shooting for that..🤬
Surely the fact some Chinese car makers use cheap / child / slave / forced labour and government subsidies to undercut everyone else is bad enough happening in China, never mind trying to force in / introduce some of those elements here in our own country...:(
Hopefully its a load of bull and illegal to boot, last thing you all need is a 12% pay cut in these current hard economic conditions...🤞
Hopefully Nigel will help keep them on their toes when he gets in at the next election, assuming the plant is still there in 3 years time of course (which I am sure it will be)...😉
While he has got a few recent rumours just about correct hopefully the Dong is Wrong on this one...👍

We had Ji Dong Won on the pitch n got
He Dong Wrong on the board 😂

If it was a 12% reduction, id imagine it would be the night shift shift allowance paid at the same rate as back shift. They'd need to fire and rehire for a basic wage decrease, much harder of a sell.
I wouldn't mind a little pay off tbh. Only been there 4 years and if 3 shifts was at the 12% reduction, it's the same wage as everywhere else.
I'm sure 12% reduction in wages for a new starter would take them under the minimum wage

Absolutely no chance of getting paid off after 4 years 😂

On a lighter note . They did fire 🔥 drill on line 1 this morning at 9am . Why ?? Because last time fire alarm went off for real. Loads of staff went to the bogs / get there bags and stuff for outside. So while waiting outside could eat bait or vape !!!
Health and safety bloke said . If there had been real fire 🔥 and tragedy . At least most them would have had there bait and a tom kite before going to heaven ....Hahaha Hahaha 😆

You seriously believe any political leader, especially a right wing leader cares about workers rights?
Nissan has received billions in guaranteed loans, good money after bad sadly. Apart from high end expensive cars, western and Japanese car makers are unable to compete with China
The most expensive component of car manufacturing is labour ( outside of china ).
Whether it’s Keir, Kemi or Nige the outlook isnt good

What’s 2 shift shift allowance and 3 shift? I can see them reducing both to cut the wage bill, lad in our place is on near enough 800 just for shift allowance alone and that’s man staff

How is Nigel going to keep a multinational on its toes? They will up sticks and set up somewhere cheaper. Probably China.
