I was stood down yesterday ( I transport the export cars )
We've recently taken on extra drivers but there's not enough work ,
Hits us in the pocket ,
Time to look for something else
Shit thst mate, if we’ve got stand downs comings this will be very worrying times for some people

Smash the overtime in the summer, stand downs in the colder months exemplary planning as usual. Any guesses when the stand ups will be next year if there are stand downs, odds on favourite the summer months. Stupid things like this is why they cannot keep / recruit decent people who wants a forced day of in a dreary November that you are forced to work back on a Saturday during the summer. Idiotic planning.

Nothing new though, stand downs were brought in originally in the late 90's / early 2000's as a way to manage the reduced demand for new cars in the winter months without having to move people all over the place or even lay some of them off while maintaining their same salary..
We often got to the beginning of November to be told 4 day weeks from now until Christmas, then had to pay them back just as the better weather arrived in April, May and June. Was a bit crap having cold grey days off but we managed.
Not sure how it works now as I retired a couple of years ago but we would get 8 full Fridays off then work 7 Saturday mornings back 7 till 12:20, so we scored a day and some time each shift though with time and a half for Saturday it equalled out, still nice going home at 12:20 instead of after 3.
Sadly the way its worked for over 20 years thanks to most people across Europe not wanting a new car in Nov/Dec/Jan and Feb.
Never ideal and won't suit everyone, but just think one year you may get 8 stand downs then retire before you pay them back and get them all wiped like I did...👍

fcuk me that sounds complicated

Any truth to another round of recap for production staff this time?

Rumour was they were looking to Japan to cost it.

Heard it a few times from different people, but 1 person who told me told me about the last recap week before it happened so i trust him. See if this pans out
yeah, what he said was line 1 standowns are something to do with the line being upgraded. 3 of them before xmas

Well that makes sense considering their roof needs strengthening as it's not strong enough for the e power now... Accident waiting to happen
Wonder why they’ve decided now to do it tho? They already knew it was going to cost to much to update the line and strengthen the roof now suddenly are doing it? Where’s this money came from? Soemthing not right with the company at minute too many rumours flying around with little coming down from the top to squash them
