Nissan

Don’t understand why it isn’t open to anyone over 25 years service be on a canny wage some of those people
Exactly !those with over 25 years service are the main cost in wages/pension

Also shows what sort of place it is when they’re telling lads with 30 plus years service that they can’t get it because they’ve put in to retire. Yet the last recap lads were getting it the day before they left the company

They will want rid of anyone on the higher salary (pre 2006) in order to start a load of new staff on much lower salaries probably next year to maximise cost cutting.
Thats if it doesn’t go completely Pete tong and we all get bundled out the door with a statutory redundancy of about £6k

That’s why I don’t understand no man staff there’s lads 54/55 with pens at the ready to sign the forms

They’ll change the criteria to 20y but still not including man staff what we were told

They’re maintenance surely retrain them it’s not like they training line monkeys, like we’re told you work for Nissan you go where you’re needed

If there’s no job for them then they should get a proper redundancy package no this shit

RECAP is the Retraining for New Careers Programme. There’s surplus Production Management and Maintenance from the shift changes and closing of castings so theirs an offer on the table for volunteers to take the money and retrain.

There’s a deficit of man staff as they’re actively hiring so why would they pay them off?

Is it definitely just T/L and above? How on earth they gonna shift 250 of them is there even that many in the factory?
Aye got the brief just before we came out TLs and above

Yet it was only 18 months ago engineers were given a proper redundancy package some walking out with well over £100000

Certainly not a deficit in unit area they’ve got a full shift worth of lads split between the 2 shifts

Because somebody on a higher wage is on about 45k a year in comparison to a new starter on 30k. The company would make their money back in a few years.

Every shop is hiding people out the way, we are 5 blokes over Manned on each shift. On 3 shifts aswell

Mental figures . £50k is a right old touch. I’d rather have my job like, rather than be made redundant in this recession.

If the timing is right for you redundancy is the icing on the cake,
redundancy lumper and if you are 55 got all your big bills paid and a good pension it’s perfect.
As you can start taking your company pension at 55.
It’s seems like the large redundancy payouts will be a thing of the past. A lot only get the government statuary now.
Company I worked for, went from an enhanced package of a full 2 years salary including offshore & shift allowance.
Lads are getting half that now don’t get me wrong they walking away with a wheelbarrow of cash but shame as a lot could of went a couple of years back so in theory they have worked last couple of years for nothing.
More too life than work mate 😉
