Nissan

are they doing roadworks next to the nissan factory ? past few week been shit load more traffic on the A1231 , going from washington towards wessington way, lad at work said it was due to new roads being built which meant lot more nissan staff and surrounding suppliers were having to now use the A1231 to get onto the A19
Aye. Few Fridays ago I made the very stupid mistake of heading home that way from TEF as a change of scenery from the 1231 that I feel like I drive up and down a lot, and it was at the same time as those on early shift would’ve been finishing at 3pm. Took me about an hour just to get to the 1231 Nissan/Waterview Park roundabout from outside of Nissan. Was sick as a chip.

Aye I think it’s the norm now. We got our lift through town before last Tuesdays match earlier than we’d normally go out, and it was rammed then. This was about 4pm, so doubt that much of it will have been match traffic.

Ah, so that's why.

I come home that way at 4.30 but turn off at the Castletown roundabout so not as bad as if I had to go further towards the A19.

No chance NMUK closes. No chance . Will be government bailouts till market realigns
100% Recaps in Oct tho . And 3 shift pattern line 2 . Then get through stormy patch till back on even keel simple as that..
Any business can and will close if it loses enough money. It’s that simple. They won’t wait forever. Retrain now and quick because it can and could happen.

They must have reopened recruitment because I’ve just been invited up for an assessment. Applied late last year when I was thinking about going back but they closed recruitment.

Place is going nowhere . This was added 4 days ago and I’ve seen loads of recruitment agencies advertising jobs on social media over the weekend

Well lets see what happens and if Mr Johnson was right or not.... 🤔

One thing is certain, NMUK will NOT close, that's for sure...

Also 20,000 staff being removed worldwide x £50,000 Redundancy / Recap / whatever you want to call it = £1 BILLION pounds...

Which I am pretty sure will be about £1 Billion more than Nissan will currently have down the back of the sofa in spare change, especially to just hand out willy nilly to random people at plants that are remaining open...

Fair enough, the 7 plants that are closing, then ALL the workers there will have to be fairly compensated and rightly so...

Any other layoffs at other plants will be interesting to see how they are managed...

Current staff turnover at NMUK dictates they do not NEED to offer ANYTHING to get rid of any people they may or may not need to lose...

Hopefully they do offer a Recap package at NMUK of some sort, but maybe only for 25 years plus to get the higher earners that are left out...

Madness giving money to people who have only been there 10 years, one of my lads a few years back had been there 10 years and 8 days and got £30000 Recap - great for him - bat sh*t crazy from a management view...

Anyway lets see what happens the rest of the year, but hopefully everyone's jobs at NMUK are safe, which is the ONLY thing that really matters to everyone working there and the North East's economy in general...👍
You are desperate for them not to offer recaps 😂

Lad from our place started there last week. He had been waiting for a start date for a long time I think after being told he was successful.

The company that supply the Binmen in nissan . Finished all temporary agency staff yesterday. And are asking for 27 voluntary redundancies . Read into that what u want . Imo line 1 closure . Line 2 goes on 3 shifts and recaps ...
