Time to look for another job
A lot of people have heads in the sand . Electric car sales could take years to take off . Its shite at moment like . 9000 job cuts speaks volumes. Hopefully a Labour Government the saving grace for NMUK
Labour haven't helped so far have they, by introducing NI rises etc. People that voted labour have sold the country down the river.
The Tories at the end were a farce

Having one of us(mackem) as a business secretary will surely help

Keep hearing stand downs mentioned on here . What's the legality of these. Thought if you were contracted to so many hours you had to be payed for them without owing any hours back .

Working time calendar for December should hopefully be out tomorrow which may include more stand downs in December, but may not.
And as for owing hours you can take them unpaid, use holidays or have the day off and pay them back.
Your right about being contracted to work so many hours and being paid for them but if you aren’t working them (stand downs) then those hours have to be accounted for.

You can’t take standowns unpaid. If you have a holiday in for the dates, you can’t take them out. It’s in the company’s terms and conditions that you agreed to when you sign your contract. There only allowed to give us 7, but you only have to pay 6 half shifts back

Was that the party that closed the shipyards?
Just like practically everything these days it’s made out of cheaper steel which would have been a factor in the days of the yards with foreign country’s bidding for the jobs. Plus those country’s had cheap as chips wages to pay.
The gear that went missing out of the yards had to be paid for somehow so surely this would be put on the price of a build which with the cheaper steel would have been one of the reasons why the work went elsewhere also.
Back in the day if ya wanted owt ya knew someone in the yards n it was out the back door for ya.

Judging by the build numbers for Dec. Think there will be more standowns
