Newcastle Won't Survive.

No you've been educated that Newcastle play an entirely different (and some would say contrary) style of football to that which you claimed.

Nobody has argued it's merit.

And I shall look forward to seeing it in action this season.

Dunno, this Lejeune might be decent, certainly had nice things said about him by neutral La Liga journalists. Clark was very good last year, but looked suspect in the top flight before. Conversely, Mbemba looked good in the Premier League but didn't feature much last season. Lascelles is basically Steven Taylor with less stupidity.

I'd also say there are quite a few teams in the top flight with shonky defences, so we're not unusual in that regard.

Which bits do you have issue with? Out of interest?
Is Lejeune undeserving of the praise from neutrals?
Was Clark not very good last year?
Did Mbemba not look good in the Prem?
Is Lascelles worse than Steven Taylor?

Are there few teams in the top flight with shonky defences?

My mates a season ticket holder at Sid James and he says the football was shite last season

Plenty of games weren't exciting. Still won plenty and finally won the league though.

I get it, I really do, but football fans love a f***ing moan. I'm good mates with a Chelsea fan who spends most of our football chats telling me how he can't wait to get rid of 1/2 his team, how they definitely won't win the league next season and how the Champions League is the only real measure of a team.

I think this is all bollocks. The Mags are trying to anti-jinx and we're trying to go OTT on the pessimism.

The bar is pretty low to stay in the PL and is more about form, team cohesion and of course, a little bit of quality which they probably have enough of. They at least have enough to compete with the teams in the bottom 6-7 next season even today. I'd say Huddersfield, Brighton, Burnley, Watford, WBA, Swansea and Bournemouth will not consider themselves light years ahead of Newcastle in terms of squad quality and depth.

I reckon they'll make 1-2 decent quality signings and be fine.

I think when your winning lots of games but the football isn't great then most fans don't really care.

But if you play the same football this season and get beat a fair few games then some fans will turn on rafa imo

If we play pragmatically, and go down, yeah the fans will turn on him. We end up 17th there'll be questions. It's more about how far short of potential we fall. If we sign some exciting talents, but they're not used properly (think Souness trying to get Robert to defend) then we'll be pissed off, but Rafa seems to buy players that fit the way he wants to play, rather searching for a bargain.

So just like every other fanbase out there, if we do shit we'll not be happy, if we do well we will. If we do shit by playing bad football (not saying pragmatic necessarily = bad mind) we'll be even less happy.
