Would he have to start again from scratch though? If he is as good a manager as he is made out, a top club with an infrastructure of a majority of good players should not be a problem.

Definitely would have to start again. His success in management is a result of how well his teams are drilled and that isn't an overnight process.

That there is an ongoing negotiation and he hasn't bitten Ashleys hand off and signed an 8 year deal probably answers that for you. It's pretty obvious that he isn't signing a new deal without guarantees, so stupid question

Did Pardew get guarantees?

If he signs a new deal then I take it he'll have all the guarantees he's asked for so there'll be no more crying about funds then.

Yes. He'd have a to an entire squad to get playing his system, as opposed to having a squad that already knows the crack. Nit an overnight job.

So, by that reckoning with all the loan players going back and others returning plus however many he would like to sign, effectively he won’t be more or less starting from scratch. How many of the current squad do you honestly think he will keep if given carte Blanche to sign as many as he would like?
