Won't speak for all Newcastle fans, but I certainly look at each result with the lack of quality in the squad firmly in my mind. To be honest, there's not many games where the way he's set us up has cost us points. Usually it's a lack of quality, or a lack of focus. He takes a fair amount responsibility for each of those, but his chief responsibility is tactics and strategy.
Lack of quality ? What are you expecting 50 million pound players all ower the pitch ?

Did Pardew and McLaren have a lack of quality?
Just face it man anyone else would be hounded out for being Ashleys yes man while producing the most turgid football ever.

Why would Rafa be seen as being Ashley's yes man? He constantly openly criticises the way he operates

Tbf there was a time earlier this season when it looked like the tide was starting to turn against him, but the signing of Almiron shortly followed by the win of City quickly stemmed that and they were playing well by season end

Weird how the almiron signing coincided with an upturn in form, given how shite I've read he is on here

Actions speak louder than words.

Benitez is working under the same conditions as Pardew yet Pardew was part of the cockney mafia and Ashleys yes man while Rafa on the other hand.

Balls in Ashley's court. If he has any ambition beyond survival for the club he should give Benitez more control over transfers and should give him the kind of support he's promised in the past. If he doesn't then Benitez will go, the new man might be good enough to keep us up, but regardless of whether we survive 19/20 Ashley's approach is one of diminishing returns.

Hard to convince players to join a mid-table Premier League club who've thumbed their nose at progress and have no interest in striving for more than survival, same for managers, sponsors, and so on.
There seems to be a helluva lot of mind games going on between them I wouldn’t be surprised at any outcome with you lot

Pardew accepted his lot and made excuses for Ashley, Benitez criticises him and tries to get him to change. You already know this though. You're talking absolutely shite, is what I'm saying. It's like group therapy in here. An echo chamber of delusion

I think most, if not all Premier League clubs, will strive for more. Some are hamstrung by a lack of finances (we're not), but when teams like Burnley and Bournemouth are aiming to grow their clubs and we're not, it's damning of the owner's stewardship.

Which Premier League clubs have thumbed their nose at progress like?
Burnley and Bournemouth that Newcastle finished above, that Burnley and Bournemouth?

He definately added pace and directness to their team which immediately made them more dangerous. He hasnt added any goals yet for them though which was part of why he was bought.

I'm pretty sure they won't have any concerns about how many he scores or assists if his presence has them hoovering up the points  team game and all that

Benitez has a bit moan about wanting more money man that's it.
How is he trying to get Ashley to change like?
Why dosn't he quit?

Are you still pretending to be a Sunderland fan or not? I can’t tell whether you’ve stopped bothering.

Why would he quit? He has years invested in their side and probably prefers to see where he can take it rather than start from scratch somewhere else.

He's trying to get him to change by getting him to relax to policy of not signing older players, paying the going rate for wages, make improvements to the training ground, streamline the transfer process. Etc, need I go on?

The Almiron signing coincided with a run of home fixtures against teams towards the bottom end of the league.
If prior to the signing of a £20m attacking midfielder you were told his stats after 10 games would be 0 goals and 0 assists would you have been impressed?

Having watched him I've been impressed enough without the need to resort to a simpleton appraisal based on stats. The facts are he changed the way the play, their form improved and everybody outside of this echo chamber has praised him as a good signing. I guess by trying to say hes not somehow makes us feel better about being in league one.
