Newcastle Manager Situation

Is he?

Sacked at Liverpool. Shite at inter, napoli and Madrid.

When was his last good season?
I got absolute pelters for saying I hope he gets Newcastle job.

At Liverpool his achievements were lucky cup wins, even champions league the ball didnt cross the line in semi final. He finished ouside of the top 4 on 3 occasions whilst having Alonso, Mascherano, Torres, Carragher and Gerrard in the absolute primes of their careers. He surrounded his superstars with expensive flops such as Albert Riera, Alberto Aquillani, Andrea Dosenna etc.

Then as you rightly said he was shite and Napoli, Inter (especially shit) and Real Madrid. Tbf he did half decent at Chelsea when they were underachieving.

I hope Newcastle get Benitez!

Mainly years ago but admittedly he's a cup manager. Is that what they need right now?
Takeaway his cup runs at Liverpool and he was absolutely shocking

He should have won far more at Liverpool with the players he had
I remember throughout those years some of my best mates were Liverpool fans and I always wanted them to fail for the craic. I was so happy he wasted the prime years of Steven Gerrard's career, he should have won a premier league with the players around him and the money Benitez spent.

You never know. But if it was us, most would probably be delighted with the prospect of Benitez turning up.

Queer bloke mind.

To be fair to Tufty, they are treating him pretty shabbily with this whole thing. If they were gonna fire him surely they would have done so already but to keep him in charge whilst supposedly trying to woo a successor is poor form.

They haven't publicly backed him as far as I know and surely they are now well into preparations for the weekends tactics (such as they use anyway) so getting rid now could be even more counter productive..?

He had a better squad at Liverpool than Rodgers did, and Rodgers almost won the league. Lived off that Champions League win. I still say they could have played that second half a thousand times again and still not won.
The semi final against Chelsea that they won, the ball didnt even cross the line.

I think he's a pretty poor manager tbh, maybe a reasonable coach. His record earlier on was good, but seems to live on that now and he's lucky that the manager merry go round in Spain and Italy is massive, so constant failures keep getting jobs. His record of buying at Liverpool was nothing short of atrocious barring about two exceptions.

Allardyce seems to be able to get under his skin too.

Fully agree

If they gave him a vote of confidence, that would guarantee his sacking within a week.

Except we don't know they are. It is, as you suggest, supposition (and press talk).

If the mags get a new manager in they'll stay up. Puts us in a bit of a pickle anarl

In fairness most managers could do a decent job at Liverpool, Real Madrid etc. Newcastle are in deep relegation trouble with a shit back 4. Transfer window is shut. Has he ever been in this senario before?
Think he was relegated with some club in his early days as a manager
