In the 16/17 season, 9 players went out (including the highest earners Coloccini, Sisserker, Townsend, Wijnaldum, Janmaat) and 10 players came in. Takeaway Benitez's £5M salary, and we're led to believe that the players coming in (many of who were Championship players) were getting paid an average £3M a year or £60k a week MORE than the players they replaced?

I call bullshit......my guess is that future salaries have been brought forward and put in this financial year to inflate the actual loss. This of course suits Ashley's agenda, and coupled with the timing of the release of these figures and his 'spend what we earn' statement, is Ashley's PR team trying to shift the blame towards Benitez when he inevitably leaves this shit-show.
