71/72 uefa cup featured atletico and real Madrid.
Seems no one was that arsed until Everton went to UEFA in 1975 claiming it was an unfair rule to which they agreed.

One club per city rule still enforced by the english FA.
The football league.

If it’s good enough for Barcelona to claim as major honour it’s good enough for Newcastle
Just says 'honours' so will obviously include the lesser ones too.

No mate, that arsehole @Friendly Fire has stated on numerous occasions they ‘qualified’ for it, not invited. He also mentioned something about facts, I seem to find I turn off when a gravy stained Greggs muncher mentions facts.

Of course we qualified for it, the Fairs Cup allocated places and our FA decided how to allocate them, same as they did for the Uefa Cup and now the Europa League. The FA decided it would be the highest placed teams behind the Champions and they applied the 1 club 1 city rule until the mid 70’s. That was the qualifying criteria and it is a fact. I’ve already covered why Uefa don’t list it under their honours list and also shown where they acknowledge it as the predecessor to the Uefa Cup and list 6 consecutive winners of the competition from England in a period where the competition changed from the Fairs Cup to the Uefa Cup.

It wasn't the FA.

There are millions of educated football fans up and down the country who are passionate and knowledgeable about football and they dont have the rose coloured specs that our fans have or the mags for that matter. They can be objective and i'm only asking you to find one out of those millions that would suggest we were a bigger club than them. Only one - is it really too much to ask? If you think we are bigger than them you are utterly biased and deluded. I think we are better than them and we have far more honest and grounded supporters than them - although this thread doesn't help. Makes us look a right bunch of deluded tools.
Makes you look like a deluded tool. Sound familiar rentamag.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Tbf he's presenting you with plenty of facts and evidence, you are the one refusing to accept empirical evidence and in denial.
He's waffling just like you :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Seriously - trying to dismiss the Fairs Cup as some kind of friendly invitation event? Desperation time. 73 is a far more valid comeback.

Surely if it were as you day, then Leeds would have qualified

Well I think you and @Zinedine Kilbane are both closet mags your posting history strongly suggest this I'm a Sunderland fan of long standing and I don't feel the need to justify myself to a Mag like you. Like I've said on numerous occasions we have more titles and more top 3 finishes so how the fucketty Fuck can you lot claim to be bigger. Bigger egos and bigger bellies. I'd definitely agree with that. The fact you're still pushing the mag agenda speaks volumes.

First game as a Sunderland supporter 1974/75 season v Notts County at home according to my dad but cant recall it and quite a few over the next two seasons without remembering them that clearly due to my age. Went to most of the end of season games 76/77. Derby at home (Towers pen) sitting in the clock stand. West Ham at home 6-0 (SGR2, Holden 2, Kerr, Lee) QPR at home 1-0 Lee amongst the games. We played about 875 games at home aver the next 35 seasons at which I attended about 868 of them give or take putting me probably in the top 1% of Sunderland match attenders over that period. Out of the games I missed included the championship game against Birmingham when we won 2-1 with Quinn and Phillips due to the fact that it was on the 9/5/99 the date of my daughters birth. Proof if ever there was that i'm a mag

When debating football you can take the view that you are a Sunderland supporter and you push the 'Sunderland argument' irrespective of anything. That's what you do and its stupid. Or you can be objective and say it exactly how it is. The mags are an awful club who have a pathetic sense of entitlement - they are as dishonest about their club as you are about 'yours' - definitely a few mag traits there! However you know and I know that these days they are a bigger club than us. I wasn't always the case.

Remember its you calling me a mag but you have yet at the third time of asking put your games on the table against mine. Your turn :)

Leeds qualified as holders after winning it in 68.

Riviera usually swats these away like flies when they start on trying to convince themselves and us that it's "a proper trophy" Teams pulled out, some teams got a bye and some matches were decided on the toss of a coin  Got to love them they're desperate

Aye but have you heard about that tournament that decided who finished where in a group stage by drawing bits of paper out of a bowl in 1990?

Small-time as fuck, I’d hate to celebrate winning a tournament like that over 50 years later. Would be a bit desperate.

Bigger how? Crowds , yes, Top league wins no. Blowing wind up their own arse, them, believing their own lies, them, breaking up innocent phone boxes, them, punching a horse, them, smashing their own town up, them. Oh, being on the end of 6 in a row defeats to their nearest and dearest, them, and being on the receiving end of a record home defeat in the top league, (by their nearest and dearest again) them, again! Shit, by that reckoning, I take my hat off to them (arseholes).

Too many to remember but I'm obviously older than you. Just one question, what turned you to the darkside?
