They should take Defoe on loan in January, he'd keep them up.

He's better than every striker they currently have.
Very true. But he wouldn’t play beneath himself and they couldn’t afford his wages.

I seem to recall they mocked us for signing Defoe on a swap with Altidore. They nar a good centre forward when they see one. It's in their blood.
I would agree, but they only seem to rate them after they’ve retired or been sold.

What do you take from this information?
Its the players you have available to you that matters. If you have a 200 million squad and sell a player for 50 million and buy one for 51 million - you now have a 201 million squad. If somebody, such as Brighton, have a squad worth a small bag of apples and then spend 200 million then they now have a 200 million squad - the same as you. They haven't suddenly 200million in in front of you as these dickheads like to suggest.
It suggests four teams have lower value squads than him and a couple more about the same give or take. A werld class manager should then be able to take that squad and have it performing above some of the equivalents. A bit like Watford.

Allardyce would get that squad to 14th or 15th easily.

That would mean paying Celtic compensation wouldn't it?

@Grumpy Old Man what's your take on this?

Nothing at Companies House. It's an uncorroborated, unaccredited tweet as far as I can see. So, unless and until Edwards can come up with some evidence, it's an unsubstantiated rumour. However, of the £144m owed to Ashley, £33m is repayable on demand, and he can recoup that any time he wants, so long as payments to other creditors aren't prejudiced.

If he has, it's a wonderful way of sticking two fingers up at the shop shouters.

Some would argue there is not an obvious Plan A at Newcastle, but this seems a team without ideas – as shown by the fact they swung in 41 crosses against Brighton, 11 more than any other team this weekend. Considering their primary striker, Yoshinori Muto, is four inches shorter than both Brighton centre-backs, it was never likely to be a successful plan.

So we're going with a rumour intended on whipping the locals into a frenzy. It seems a paltry amount in the grand scheme of things. I always think these things get leaked to the press when there's a situation between owner and manager.
