West Ham smashed you three nowt last year at your place. That'll have been Ashley's fault though, yeah? You know, when he made the following changes at one nil down and gutted the midfield

IIRC Benitez blamed net spend for that defeat in his post match interview.

Disagree, a couple of tame shots straight at the goalkeeper and one that hit the outside of the post aren't deserving of a result in my mind. Arsenal were absolutely shite yet still brushed us aside.

Some might say the suggestion that replacing two midfielders with two midfielders is gutting the midfield to be an 'outright lie'.

It seems a bit daft to pick a specific result to expose Benitez' apparent lack of gameplan and attempt to get a result when I could easily reply with the Man City game to prove it the other way. It's almost as if you can't treat certain games in isolation...

If you are asking just to score points or expose ignorance theres no need-neither I or you or anybody on this forum knows the financial position at NUFC. Its like when fans get challenged to pick a better manager than Bruce without resorting to unrealistic shouts of Mourinho. Not our job (we are already working full time etc) to monitor & sift managers doing decent jobs in UK or elsewhere-you really hope thats what Ashley pays people for.
But in answer to your question the concensus seems to be he paid £135m for club & has invested same again-the latter bit being hard to quantify given the Sports Direct trade off etc. So say £300m max to make a profit. £250m to make a small loss. And as Short found its a lot easier to make a far bigger loss than a small one and hes not the only one.
I would say if he was so desperate to sell given the headaches & grief & need for continual investment somewhere between £200-£250m if serious wants to.
 
Weird because Rafa explicity mentioned the training facilities as a factor in his column/interview today

Newcastle’s board had a year to sort out my contract but, when we met after the end of last season, they didn’t make me a proper offer. They told me they didn’t want to invest in the academy or the training ground — if they like, I can explain the reason why Mike Ashley refused to do that.

No, I disagree, his changes were chaotic and lead to the only goal of the game, and Arsenal despite a very weakened side looked the better side for 2/3 of the game, but they are a top side, it happens, I’m not picking on Bruce just think he is a dinosaur in the modern game but I’m willing to give him a season to have a go.

Measuring Bruce on Arsenal game serves no point-win under Benitez 2017 only once we have beaten them at home since 2005 And the daft 4-4 aside most of them have been similar pattern as Sunday.
Bruce needs to bridge the gap between 34-44 points or thereabouts that meant Benitez kept the club safe with plenty to spare. Generally meant beating the clubs at bottom more regularly than dropped points to them-again he managed well. Thats where I worry-not points off Arsenal but those going to finish bottom 6.
