There's about 100 metres between the two, where they gonna fit an arena?

Whilst I'm more than happy with this being in Gateshead, it definitely looks like something Sunderland should be pushing to get!

I'm fairly sure the Beacon didn't get permission to operate as a music/entertainment venue in the end due to local objections and or brown envelopes and backhanders...Arena gigs are shit. We'll have 2 new venues open soon with the fire station and beacon.
There must be about 3 people outside the NE that don't know that South of the Tyne is Gateshead.Gateshead >>>>>>>>>> newcastle
Isnt the space the car park for the Baltic and the Gateshead quayside?
Ya mean County Durham marra. There must be about 3 people outside the NE that don't know that South of the Tyne is Gateshead.
dunno like, I met a Manc yesterday age mid 40s who told me he'd been in newcastle last week, he could see the Angel of the North from where he was ( Birtley )There must be about 3 people outside the NE that don't know that South of the Tyne is Gateshead.
Newcastle Arena was always going to struggle with Leeds arena opening . Might help having a refresh and it not being a shit hole.
That should have said know where.dunno like, I met a Manc yesterday age mid 40s who told me he'd been in newcastle last week, he could see the Angel of the North from where he was ( Birtley )
Sunderland should have built one YEARS ago , yet more revenue/tourism going to Newcastle/Gateshead, because lets be honest Gateshead's gain is Newcastle's gain.
When was the last time a big/decent act was on at The Arena?
Dinnit think I've read on here of many lately.
The car park and a huge bit of land above it as well.Isnt the space the car park for the Baltic and the Gateshead quayside?

Ed Sheeran was on three months ago like. I'm not a fan of his to be honest but he's about as big as they come at the minute.
Killers playing there in 5 months anarl, who're also pretty big.
The Leeds one is superb compared to Newcastle's but it's a totally different set up. All of seats standing face the stage for a start. It's designed with music in mind whereas the Newcastle one was primarily for sport (ice hockey) and is awful for music. I think it's a great spot to put it - between Sage and Baltic
