Did you stay until the end.Lee Proud & The Proud Ones supporting Bowie. I was there it was awful. Bowie was terrible and Morrissey had pulled out.
Yeah was hoping Bowie would play some hits but it was mainly just self indulgent obscure stuff.Did you stay until the end.
It would bring people in.This. A purpose built venue, like those in Leeds and Glasgow that attract all the major arena tours, and not some naff hockey pitch.
If you look at direct transport links it gets built at Newcastle everytime, ours would be shut by now and we'd be blaming the councilSunderland should have built one YEARS ago , yet more revenue/tourism going to Newcastle/Gateshead, because lets be honest Gateshead's gain is Newcastle's gain.
There's about 100 metres between the two, where they gonna fit an arena?
Have you tried running instead of driving mate?its the car park i have my annual pass for. not good news for this long suffering commuter.
The Hydro in Glasgow is class n all, designed for music. The Leeds one is superb compared to Newcastle's but it's a totally different set up. All of seats standing face the stage for a start. It's designed with music in mind whereas the Newcastle one was primarily for sport (ice hockey) and is awful for music. I think it's a great spot to put it - between Sage and Baltic
See above.
I saw Joe Satriani (for free) in the early days
Was that the one where the bass player did a fantastic solo? If so, I was there as well.
Not much room there like!!

The very one,his name escapes me.
The plans go right back to the railway lines, you could fit the Sage on that bit of land about 4 times. Not much room there like!!

Most likely land owned by council but SMG have a lease on it. I'd imagine the original Arena scheme had some sort of Council support? Its interesting to note in the article that Newcastle council "are considering what they will do with the site" vacated by the current arena
Is that site not privately owned and therefore doesnt fall within the council's remit? A bit like alot of "privately owned" land in Sunderland has been prevented being built upon because of the owners???? Seems strange that ownership issues and development dont hit any snags thats held up things in Sunderland
What is capacity of Leeds?12500 capacity seems a bit small if the venue wants to compete with Leeds arena
13500 , Manchester and the o2 are 18,000+ but not really what Newcastle are competing withWhat is capacity of Leeds?
