New signing for durham

Not a chance. Think we'll see more from those who have been involved with England recently. Lees will likely be around for the duration of the season, and I think Potts and Carse availability will be better than recent times.

Unsurprisingly Campbell and North said we wouldn't see much of Stokes this season.
Hopefully he turns out to be another Callum Thorpe.

I'd be happy if he turned out to be another van Meekaren never mind Thorpey.:D

In fairness Collingwood brought in Calum MacLeod after seeing him play for Scotland as a coach.

Unless we're dismissing the new coach already maybe let's give him a chance? Seemed to do well at the world cup against some quality opposition
I think it happens in all sports. Peter Reid brought in players he knew, and they did ok too.

Brian Clough had John McGovern on a string and took him from club to club.

It does, trying to use it as a stick to beat the club with - while simultaneously complaint were short of senior players is canny ridiculous like.

Think it will be another difficult season the loss of Dickson. Get Lees back but we are short in both batting and bowling. Only Potts carried any sort of threat last season and sure our mates the ECB will interfere with the amount of times he can play for us.

But that's the point-we ARE short of senior players and that should be the priority.Glover isn't a senior player-he was anything but at Northants. What does he offer that Maclindon cannot?. Both pacey but unproven.

It will be interesting to see the signings who get announced in the next couple of weeks. It looks like the 2nd overseas for t20 is sorted. Not sure where this "exciting younger player" could be from.
Then hopefully a 2nd overseas for at least the first block of championship matches.

Even from the little I've seen I'm a fan of McAlinden and I have great hopes for him. But, he is young with young bones and the coaches ought and no doubt will be careful they don't over bowl him, so I think he'll be in and out the team for a while just to protect a growing body.

I was at the meeting with the new coach. He said he believes in "pace" and you need a "pack" of bowlers to get through a full season.
Glover is 25yrs old, McAlindon is 18/19 ?
They complement each other and add to the "pack".
They will both be given opportunities throughout the season in red ball and white ball competitions.
We have a lot of overs to cover following the loss of Chris Rushworth and the uncertainty of availability of Potts, Carse and even Wood.
As for the batting, he mentioned a "strong" first five in Lees, Jones, Borthwick, Bedingham, Robinson.
He then said we have Clark, Bushnell, Mckinney and a "possible new signing".
Looks ok to me.

Got to say I'm surprised at the negativity around this signing. If we're sat here in April and he's the only signing then I can understand it but in isolation I'm quite happy to trust the coach's judgement that he can add something to the squad.

We were so poor in last season’s T20, anything must be an improvement? This lad seems to be a bit of a white ball specialist, so let’s give him a chance 😁
