There's also a new Greg Freeman record which I'm most looking forward to. For fans of MJ Lenderman, Kiwi Jr, that sorta vibe.

I'll be into that, based on the references.

In the list for the week, Case Oats are the one for me (if I could only listen to one). Spencer Tweedy's first band minus his dad. Alt-Americana with really clever lyrics. Beyond that, too much to single things out but I'll, as always, say give Yorkston a chance.

This sounds like it will be up a few peoples street. Supergroup feat Mick Harvey (of Bad Seeds fame), Mick Turner (Dirty Three), plus a couple of others.

Water From Your Eyes was a bit of a letdown on first listen. 10 tracks at 29 mins and nearly half of them are short instrumentals.

Wolf Alice was actually pretty good. I've never been a big fan of theirs and always a bit unsure but there is some good stuff on this.

Deftones are a band I've never listened to but quite like this one. Will definitely listen to it again.
 
An thread I haven't commented in for ages!

Came to say how much I've loved Wolf Alice's new album, as @steadybreeze says - very 70's (/ Fleetwood Mac) esq. They're 4 from 4 for me - even though this is a completely different style.

Love them leaning into her voice more on this album then in the past - it's stunning.

This is really good. There's a bit of a post-rock vibe (albeit with vocals). Quite Australian.

In other Aussie music news, I missed Royel Otis' new album from my list of new stuff. Their debut was very good and they're good live.

It’s worth going through most of Deftones’ albums to be honest, they’re consistently good for a metal band.

I’ll give it another go as I found a bit dull, but then I’ve never really understood the hype around them.
 
Friday is another busy day for new albums. There are releases from The Beaches, Belinda Carlisle, Blood Orange, Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride Big Band, CMAT, Flyte, Ganser, Gulp, Jehnny Beth, Margo Price, Modern Nature, Nova Twins, Ron Sexsmith, Sabrina Carpenter, The Beths, The Hives, Anna Tivel, Eiko Ishibashi & Jim Rourke, Guedra Guedra, The Good Ones, Rodney Crowell, the compilation "When Will They Ever Learn?" (a story of US folk music from 1963-1969), Prolapse (back after many years) and Oren Ambarchi & Johan Berthling & Andreas Werliin.

There's a good few there worth a listen.
